So it's been over a year since the last time I used Steam, as my gaming PC died about a year ago. So today I decided on a whim to install Steam on my laptop. I entered my account name and the last password I had (or at least the one I thought I had).
Steam tells me that's the wrong password. "Big deal," I think. "I'll just reset my password."
I do the whole "find lost login info" thing, and I get an email from Steam telling me my verification code and a "secret question", which is: What did customer support last reset your passphrase to?
"Fuck," I think. "I have no idea what the answer is to that."
I did some searching on the Steam forums about this problem, and found that I should just send in a ticket to Steam support. So I try to do that, when I hit another snag. In order to request for a ticket, Steam is telling me I have to log in. Which I can't do until I get my password/question reset.
What do I dooooooo?
The helpdesk login isn't the same as your steam login, you can just create a new helpdesk account

EXCACTLY. What kind of secret question is this, how would I ever remember this? Besides, I'm pretty sure I never reset my password, yet it's always asking this as a "secret question" when I think I forgot my password (yeah, happens to me sometimes)...
I wish they would implement a custom secret question, or at least a more reliable one.
