I just heard from my guild that there is a new event coming straight after hallows end, sure enough i looked and it shows "Day of the Dead". Its supposedly new this year, anyone have any idea what it is?
Probably to mirror that celebration they have in Mexico or whatever for dead people. Either that or something gay with zombies.

It's new. Wait and see. :v:
It's new, we have no idea what's going to be happening really.
Yeah.. except if you click on it in the WoW Calendar, it explains what's going on pretty nicely.
You respect the dead.. Graveyards and stuff.
Actually, that doesn't tell us much at all.

For all we know that could mean getting killed and burried. Or it could mean digging up graves and dancing with 'em. We don't know shit really. There's an achievement, that's it.
you bring bread to graveyards
I think I've read somewhere that it might be a TBC->WOTLK opening event look alike.... You know when everyone was running around as zmobies and killing each others in shatt.
Can't remember where though, and if it was statement or a guess.

Why would it be? That was a Zombie plague, this is a Day of the Dead :S

I doubt this would happen again. That event was awesome though horribly buggy/exploitable.
I dunno.... I can just remember I heard it somewhere. Can't prove it's any truth in it...

That would be awesome, but I doubt it though
i remember reading read the World of warcraft website and seeing something about it being a party in the graveyards of each major city.
(to my knowledge so far at least)
I guess we will find out Sunday.
i hope we can get skull helmets
So Blizzard has put an official page up on it, and it looks just about as shit as the Harvest Festival.
Basically we get to put flowers on graves, make bread for the ghosts and get a little pet that can only be used during Day of the Dead.
And that's it.
:\
Wow.
Yeah, didn't expect anything more really.
I did... I'd hoped it would be worth doing at least.
If the only reward for actually doing anything is an achievement, then really what's the point?
OH WAIT I CAN USE THE LITTLE PET AGAIN IN A YEARS TIME OKAY I'M DOING IT NOW
Yeah, they could have at least made it a perma-pet.
I hope they do some sort of after-math thing or maybe a continuation thing for next day of the dead, like maybe add a boss similar to the headless horseman or even just make the pet usable all year round or add some new items other then some bread, a mask, some flowers and a candle.
I wouldn't be surprised if people complain/give suggestions massively about this new holiday. There were so many flaws.
where mexicans honor their dead ancestors with funny masks and dancing skeletons.
They also take their dead relatives bodies out of the graves and parade them through the streets, I wouldn't be surprised if a body part or limb fell off unnoticed.
What a lame holiday. Just as lame as pirate's day.

Care to explain some of them?

Which is also another relatively small holiday, in comparison to the other ones that WoW celebrates.
It's a little holiday. Doesn't do you any harm. Gives you an achievement.
What the hell are people complaining about?

You have to put effort into obtaining a pet that only lasts 2 days.

Yes, but would you rather it didn't exist at all?
