I'm not sure where this should go, so I'm putting it here.
Recently, my first 360 broke down. We ordered a new one through Best Buy's Refurbished 360 offer. Basically it takes a used 360 in to the Microsoft factory, replaces all the parts, and ships it out like new. The service has gotten mostly amazing reviews. Problem is that the refurbished one I got broke down after a few days. It would spin the disc for a few seconds then refuse to start the game, just saying "Open Tray". I think it's because the laser thing that reads the disc got broken, because the same thing happened to my cousin once.
I'd just like to know, has anyone else ordered a new 360 this way? Have your experiences been good with it? Was I just the rare exception to the rule?
Once again, sorry if this is the wrong section.
It is probably just a fluke. The 360 is made of shitty ass parts. That is why they break

You think I'll have the same problem again?

Quality American production. :patriot:
On topic: As long as you take care of it you probably wont have any probems, whether it fucks up or not just seems to be random.
Is it still under warranty with Microsoft?
Mine was under warranty, I followed a tip and it worked.
wrap it in 3 hours and leave it on for like 12 hours straight, this fucks everything over.
Then send it to microsoft and there like.
THE FUCK WITH THIS.
and send it back refurbished.
I sent mine on a monday and got it back the same thursday.
Youll probably get the new motherboard that doesnt get RROD too.
The open disc problem is fixed easily by clearing the cache.
Go to settings than hard drive, push y, clear system cache. Works fine.
Happened to me twice :frown:
I had the same problem but I directly sent it to microsoft under warranty and have yet to get this problem again.
On another note, are you using an InterCooler?
I know absolutely none of this. I don't think clearing the cache would work considering that it was a new system, but if it happens again I'll give it a shot.
Incidentally, the new 360 broke down on the same day we had a minor flood in our basement (that's where all our gaming rigs are). It was nowhere near the water, but I'm wondering if some demonic miasma crept into the machine and ruinated it for eternity. Any ideas of whether or not the flood had anything to do with it?
Also, 400th post. FUCK YEAH.

Shit. Wait. 360th post.
Still relevant, so still FUCK YEAH.
Well the laser gets misaligned after a while, happened to me, it isn't a problem with the 360 elites though.

I'll keep that in mind. I have absolutely no source of steady income, so it might be out of the question for a while, but it'll be an option at least.
This is just an observation, but maybe a moist and humid atmosphere fucks with the laser reading part on the Xbox? Again, this is an uneducated guess.

Hmm. I'll keep that in mind.
Oh and an Intercooler broke my last Xbox so try and stay away from those.
This is why I use Personal Computers; I recommend DTI computers for all your computing needs.
That's all fine and dandy but PCs can't play Xbox 360.

Yeah. Because I can totally play Xbox games on a PC.
What games did you want to play? (Dont mention Halo 3, Its baaadd)
Best thing about the xbox is that they keep porting old games to it.
still playing Perfect dark and Duke Nukem 3D on it! love it

I'm probably gonna break the new one in with GTA, it's coming in some time today probably. I'll break it further with RDR.
I had to send in my original because of a graphics hardware problem they were all having. Got a new one in (white) and has worked perfectly ever since then. 360s are freakin sweet. I have spent more time on my 360 then I have on my PC and PS3 together. (although STALKER is close to rounding that time out :buddy:)
