:siren:IF YOU HAVE ANY MODS THAT YOU FEEL COULD BE ADDED TO THE OP, PM ME:siren: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 16 sq. miles of beautiful countryside (Morrowind was 10) 150+ quests 40+ creature types Over 9,000 objects 200+ Dungeons The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is a RPG, one of the most epic medieval-magical type RPGs out there (Well, out of the ones with good graphics). You can explore the beautiful land of Cyrodiil and dick around, or follow the main quest to its suitably epic conclusion. It's standard fantasy fare, but the devil is in the details, like the delightfully evil Dark Brotherhood and the sneaky thieves guild. You can own houses to stash the crazy amount of loot you'll acquire, like gems, swords, shields, books and even your favourite demonic armour sets. And what the hell, put a human heart on display as well. You'll encounter a crazy amount of NPCs and monsters in the cities, forests, and grasslands of Cyrodiil that will keep you busy, and a weird but intriguing level system to reward you for your exploration! You can join factions, be a thief, a evil bastard that kills a bit too much, a rich collector that has a bit too much time on his hands, And even a vampire! Plus, with a Official Plug-in for it, you can be a pirate too! It is available on PC, 360, and PS3, but unless you have a shit PC or are a total dumbshit you're gonna get it on PC because of the mods. It has classes, but these really only provide boosts, you could start as a mage, then you could lean towards swords and shields, but you will have a serious disadvantage. Thankfully, you're always able to improve. Here are the classes, and what they have/specialize in: (note: there are 3 types, combat, stealth, and magic) First Column: Class Second Column: Specialization Third Column: Attributes Acrobat--------Stealth------Agility, Endurance Agent----------Stealth------Agility, Personality Archer---------Combat-------Agility, Strength Assassin-------Stealth------Intelligence, Speed Barbarian------Combat-------Speed, Strength Bard-----------Stealth------Intelligence, Personality Battlemage----Magic--------Intelligence, Strength Crusader------Combat-------Strength, Willpower Healer---------Magic--------Personality, Willpower Knight---------Combat-------Personality, Strength Mage-----------Magic--------Intelligence, Willpower Monk-----------Stealth------Agility, Willpower Nightblade-----Magic--------Speed, Willpower Pilgrim---------Stealth------Endurance, Personallity Rogue---------Combat-------Personality, Speed Scout----------Combat-------Endurance, Speed Sorcerer-------Magic--------Endurance, Intelligence Spellsword----Magic--------Endurance, Willpower Thief-----------Stealth------Agility, Speed Warrior--------Combat-------Endurance, Strength Witchhunter---Magic--------Agility, Intelligence They also each have specific skills, 21 in all. I will list the skills, but not for each class, sorry. Combat Armorer, Athletics, Blade, Block, Blunt, Hand-2-Hand, Heavy Armor Magic Alchemy, Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Illusion, Mysticism, Restoration Stealth Acrobatics, Light Armor, Marksmen, Mercantile, Sneak, Speechcraft Attributes * Agility * Endurance * Intelligence * Luck * Personality * Speed * Strength * Willpower If you're dissatisfied with all of the classes, you can create a custom class, with all the abilities you pick. You can choose a name for it as well, like 'Criminal Scum' or 'Assfucker'. You will also be given the chance to choose a birthsign, which further changes your stats and will give you a special power and maybe a special weakness, like the apprentice's increased mana but increased weakness to magic. You can even have special once-a-day powers, like the Lover's kiss, which will paralyse someone, leaving you free to kill them, run away from them or steal their valuables from their frozen body. Moving on, Oblivion has a repressed morality system. Doing good deeds earns you fame, bad earn you infamy. These two stats aren't very important outside of a few select instances, but they do affect things, mostly the buying of houses (Without a high enough fame or infamy the Count/ess will spit on you) and the Knights of the Nine questline (Gain more than 1 infamy point, and you will not be able to wear the holy armour or play the questline until you've reset your infamy by doing the pilgramage quest. Going to shrines makes people forget about murder, remember that, kids!) You can even catch diseases in Oblivion! There are a fair amount of them, So I'll just post a picture from the wiki. And, in case you're wondering how big it is, well, here's a map! and one of the Shivering Isles: Official Mods/DLC/Expansions Oblivion was one of the first games to supply official addons after release, or at least, the first on to popularise it. Some are huge, like Mehrunes' Razor, and some are embarrassingly small, like the laughable Horse Armour pack. These generally cost around £2.00 each, with Knights of the Nine costing £9.99 and Shivering isles costing around £19.99 Horse Armour Armour, for your horse! Your horse is more resistant to damage and he turns all shiny so you can't hug him no more. :frown: The first set is free, while subsequent sets will cost you (in game gold that is, you only pay for the actual mod once :rolleye:). You cannot outfit the Unicorn or Shadowmere with the armour. Really not worth the money. Mehrunes' Razor Travel through a massive castle, dungeon, and ayleid ruin, as you attempt to discover the secrets of the Lord of destruction's deadly shaving instrument. Worth the money. The Orrery Find the missing pieces to the imperial Orrery, an awe inspiring contraptiion which will grant you extraordinary powers depending on the day. Worth the money for seeing it start up. Thieves' Den Be a pirate! Wrest control of a marooned pirate ship in a cavern from skeletons, then refit it and hre your own pirate crew, who you can send to pillage and plunder to line your pockets. Kinda worth the money, even though it doesn't really have anything you'll use much. The Vile Lair Refit and renovate a deliciously evil home, adding amenities like a sleeping prisoner to satisfy your vampiric urges, a vampire cure stone, a poison plant garden, a coffin bed, and a minion who will kill for you and bring back loot. Worth it for the evilness. Wizard's Tower Frostcrag spire is an epic place of magic and awesomeness. With a huge plant garden, atronach summoning table, spellmaking altars, an alchemy table that buffs your alchemy skill, teleporters to every Mages Guild in Cyrodiil, and much more, Frostcrag is a sight to behold even if you aren't a mage. Also, the Frostcrag Reborn Mod enhances the awesomeness. So worth it. Fighter's Stronghold A nice castle with a taxidermist, secret passageways, a training room, a forge that buffs your armourer skill, a stable, and a wine cellar, this is a rather interesting abode, but not really one you'll come back that often. It was free though, and some sites may still host it, so turn a blind eye to the expired signs and search around. Knights of the Nine. An epic questline for good characters only. Take on an evil daedric prince and his forces as he attempts to destroy Tamriel. Use the powers of godly artefacts to help you defeat your enemies. It's a long questline which should keep you busy for ages and is worth it is you can find it for cheaper. A word of warning though, the pilgramage quest at the beginning is annoying. Shivering Isles The only real 'Expansion' for the game, SI has you travelling to the plane of oblivion belonging to Sheogorath (He of the 'dogs raining from the sky' quest). Not like Dagon's realm of oblivion, this realm is not hell, filled with boiling lava, but a wonderfully surreal landscape, interspersed with settlements, characters, and monsters who are all delightfully insane. Special mention must go to Sheogorath himself, who manages to be the best character in the game, along with having the trippiest clothes. Save the plane of oblivion as you take on the forces of boredom (yes, I'm not making this up, there's actually a prince of boredom (well, order)). A beautiful ride, and one with a nice large landscape to explore as well, which feels as big as Cyrodiil because you can't bring horses into the isles. Screenies: Not impressed? Well, it's improved beyond belief with mods: And that's using a texture pack from 2006. (Yes, you can walk on fucking water.) Farms (People have jobs, too.) The second shittiest town in the game, Bravil. Crack den, sewer, and a homeless shelter rolled into one. A shot of New Sheoth, added in the shivering isles Expansion, with a Golden Saint Guard in the foreground. The life of Oblivion is in its mods. There are thousands of them and the good ones can provide anything from gratuitous nudity to hours of new quests. Here's a decent list: Downright essentials:

The titular Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) (Allows you to reorganise your load order, and install OMODs. Any mods with the file type .omod will have to be moved into your Oblivion/obmm/mods folder for it to detect them and allow you to activate them. If you haven't downloaded this, DO IT FAGGOT)
Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) (Many awesome mods like Thieves Arsenal and Deadly Reflex need this) (WORKS WITH THE STEAM VERSION, THERE IS A COMPATIBLE VERSION ON THEIR SITE)
DarNified UI (DARN UI)(So fucking awesome. Basically gets rid of the fucking shitty console centric interface of oblivion and replaces it with an awesome, streamlined one, loaded with features. Customise it during the OBMM installation process: You can change the font, the subtitle size, whether to show the quest updated dialog or not, and much more. If you want a dark version, or if you just liked DarkUI by Darkbirdy, you can download DarkUId DarN)
Wrye Bash (An application with esential tools neccessary for the installation of many complex mods. It also allows you to merge ESP files togther, inreasing performance. There's an absolute shitloaf this thing can do, most of it too complex for me.
Better Oblivion Sorting Software (BOSS) (Many problems with a modded Oblivon are due to oad order conflicts. Originally called FCOMhelper, designed to make the rearranging of load orders megamod FCOM requires slightly easier, it expanded to encompass a mind blowing selection of mods. It even provides tips on how to ensure maximum stability for some mods in its log file. AWESOME MODS:
Adonnay's Elven Weaponry (Do you like beautifully crafted shields and bows? Do you cream yourself on sight of a finely crafted blade? If you're in the latter group, stay away from this mod or you might die of dehydration)
Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul (THE oblivion overhaul mod. Adds loads of new items, tweaks the levelling a bit, and is generally revered as one of the best mods around)
Modular Oblivion Enhanced (There's a lot of content in this mod, most of it being fucking awesome. A word of warning: You will NOT be able to access any of the DLC (Except Knights of the nine) before the main quest has started, so bear that in mind if you're using the main quest delayer module. Once you've started the main quest, though, everything goes swimmingly)
Erm...HG Eyecandy Body... (Get the OMOD version if possible, it allows for easy setup of body parts. This is one of the best body replacer mods out there, and has a wealth of clothing for it. To get a list of practically all the clothing, just search 'HGEC' on TESNexus)
KF Chapel Shop (One of the only good clothing compilations for HGEC, really. Most of the others take so many cues from anime that they make me wince.)
New Dremora Textures (I like these because the original dremora texture looks like mud.)
Beautiful People (Extra character creation races, hairstyles, and eyes. Basically Ren's Beauty Pack, coupled with the mods Elaborate Eyes, Tang Mo, Skyrim Khajiit, Animhi, and Playable Dremora)
Cute Elf Race (I use this for my character and can attest to its greatness)
Illumination Within Revived (You can see lights in houses being turned on and off, and all that shizzle. Sounds simple, but is oh so immersive)
Make It pretty Mod Pack (Greatly improves the night sky, water, and foliage, BUT DO NOT INSTALL JORRAN'S TEXTURE PACK OR BTMOD. Use Qarl's texture pack and DarN UI instead.)
Qarl's Texture Pack 3 Redimized (Greatly improves the textures, but has much less load on a system than full QTP3 for no real percievable quality loss. Allows for much freer using of Prettiness mods compared to QTP3 as well.)
Unofficial Oblivion Patch (Pretty much essential. Links to the DLC and SI unofficial patches are in the description. If you want to use this with Qarl's Texture Pack, you're going to have to install the Compatibility Patch.)
Unique Landscapes (Minor performance hit, but oh so beautiful)
Atmospheric Weather System (The most popular weather mod. Use this if you want more sunny days and darker/lighter nights while using AWS.)
Deadly Reflex 5 (Allows for fuckloads of new combat moves, including Throat slitting, timed blocking, ambushing, beheading, cutting people in half, sleep stabbing (mysterious stranger perk from FO3 anyone?) and kicking. Requires OBSE)
Thieves' Arsenal (Like the thief games? Then you'll love this. Even if you don't like the arrows, which knock people out, make them trip over, spawn a climbable rope, make noise to distract guards, and turn undead, you'll definitely find a use for the dickshittingly awesome Blackjack club, which knocks people out (Read: Doesn't kill, knocks out) in one blow if you sneak up from behind. Requires OBSE)
Midas Magic: Spells of Aurum (You want this mod. The ingredients are a little hassle to collect, but by god it's worth it. The spells are incredible. And hey, you can always add the ingredients using the console or just use 'psb' to add all spells (Not recommended, makes your spell menu slow down to glacial levels))
The Lost Spires (An engrossing quest mod, which adds an entire new guild. Some of the voiceovers are a little naff, but, at least it has voiceovers!)
Book Jackets: Oblivion (Retextures all the books in the game to be hi-res and wonderful. Now you can tell what book it is just by looking at the cover! Also available is Book Jackets DLC, which gives the book jackets treatment to the shivering isles books and the spell tomes)
Frostcrag Reborn (Were you disappointed with the wizard's tower addon? Was it not as awesome as you'd hoped? Well this is the mod for you. This adds some more rooms to Frostcrag Spire, and also reworks the exterior to be even better. An essential download. Warning: The length of some staircases in this mod may cause strokes. TCL is recommended. You can find a walkthrough for obtaining the extra rooms here. This does NOT work with the Unofficial official mods patch. You will need to disable the patch esp relating to Frostcrag in your data files menu before this will work)
Elven Map Redux (Gives you an all new full colour world map, with lovely new icons to go with it. Looks purdy)
Reneer's Guard Overhaul (Greatly improves the behaviour of guards, allowing you to bribe them, which disrupts their current patrol, and it makes it so that their death is not instantly reported to other guards when you kill a guard. Guards will now flee to get help if they're losing, and the whole system is a lot better. Use in conjunction with No Psychic Guards for a greatly improved guard experience)
Better Cities (Makes the cities look much better, addng more items and rearranging things. This mod will cause utter FPS rape with Qarl's Texture Pack installed, so go for QTP3 Redimized if at all possible. (UPDATE: Even with QTP3 Redimized, the sheer amount of stuff utterly destroys your FPS. The sheer amount of dynamic lights is probably the issue)
Elsweyr: The Deserts of Anequina (A mod which aims to add the entire province of Elsweyr, the land of the furries, to the game. Has a very large scope, adding multiple cities. Unfortunately, it's still kind of a work in progress, so don't expect a mirror shine of polish. Comes very highly recommended, however.)
28 Days And A Bit 2 (ZOMBIIIIIEEEEEEESSS)
Non Sexy Armour (We've all seen it. Mountain upon mountain of fucking weeaboo shit, clogging up all the fucking download websites with its shittiness. This is a list of armour designed by people who don't want to be japanese, who don't watch anime all the time and put all the eye sliders to max when they make a character. This is a list for manly men who want the biggest penis extension armour they can find. This shit is good, even the worst is better than the mono-textured tiny skirts and ridiculous outfits (OMG SO KAWAIIII ^_^ ~UGUU) that you'll find just browsing around tesnexus.)
FCOM - CONVERGENCE Probably the biggest mod for oblivion, ever, FCOM Convergence (Francesco + WarCry + Oscuro + Martigen) is a, well, convergence, of some of the biggest game-altering mods for the game: Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, Bob's Armoury, Martigen's Monster Mod, Oblivion WarCry, and Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items. This mod allows you to use all these mods simultaneously, creating an awesome cocktail of awesomeness, changing huge aspects of the game. It's an epic mod, but it requires a decent PC and the ability to follow a long series of instructions. If you can't do that, then you don't deserve a modded oblivion, so get the fuck out and buy a console you dumbfuck. For convenience, I'll post the installation instructions here. IF these instructions don't work, which they sometimes don't, try the OMOD version which trys to install it automatically for you. There are prerequesites though, so read the instructions
1. Once that's done, open up the "Database 30 Nov 08" archive. Drag and drop masterlist.txt into your Oblivion\Data folder. Make sure you drop it inside the folder, and don't accidentally drop it into a subfolder. Once this is done, run "BOSS.bat" from your Oblivion\Data directory. This will automatically organize your FCOM load order for you. ________________________________________ 17. Run "Wyre Bash Launcher", either through your Oblivion\Mopy directory, or from the shortcut you made on your desktop. Since this is the first time you're running Wyre Bash Launcher, a popup box should appear. It will ask you if you want to turn Time Locks Off. I said "Yes". You can always change this option later, but I believe this makes it easier to arrange your load order later through Oblivion Mod Manager, aka OBMM (discussed at the end of this guide). Select the "Mods" header. This will give you a list of all your current mods, active or not. A mod is active if it has a checkmark in the box to the left of it. Also note that mods are arranged alphabetically, not by active/inactive. Go through your mod list and place a checkmark next to every mod listed. This is assuming you have FCOM mods ONLY!!! For a pure FCOM setup, activated mods will include the following: FCOM_Convergence.esm Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items Mod.esm Francesco's Optional New Items Add-On.esm Mart's Monster Mod.esm Oblivion.esm (if you have Shivering Isles installed, it will read "Oblivion.esm [SI]) Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esm Bashed Patch, 0.esp (if this isn't listed, go into your Oblivion\Mopy\Extras directory, make a copy of "Bashed Patch, 0.esp", and place it in your Oblivion\Data folder) Bob's Armory Oblivion.esp DLCShiveringIsles.esp (if you do not have Shivering Isles, this will not be listed) FCOM_BobsArmory.esp FCOM_Convergence.esp FCOM_EntropicOrderRebalance.esp FCOM_Francescos.esp FCOM_FrancescosItemsAddOn.esp FCOM_FrancescosNamedBosses.esp FCOM_Knights.esp (IF you have Knights of the Nine installed. If you have the Game of the Year edition, this should be in your list, and checked!) FCOM_RealSwords.esp FCOM_Warcry.esp Francesco's Dark Seducer Weapons Patch.esp Francesco's Optional Chance of More Enemies.esp (this should only be here and activated if you have Shivering Isles installed) Francesco's Optional Chance of Stronger Bosses.esp Francesco's Optional Chance of Stronger Enemies.esp Francesco's Optional Leveled Guards.esp (this should only be here and activated if you have Shivering Isles installed) Knights.esp (IF you have Knights of the Nine - comes with GOTY edition) Oblivion WarCry EV.esp Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch.esp (IF using Shivering Isles) Once you have found and activated all these files, find your "Bashed Patch, 0.esp" in the list. Right click on it, and select "Rebuild Patch". This will display a popup menu. Make the following selections: - In the left window, highlight "Merge Patches". Now look in the right window. Go through and place a checkmark next to every item that begins with "FCOM_". Then, place a checkmark in the left window, next to "Merge Patches". - Further down the list in the left window, locate "Leveled Lists". Place a checkmark next to this. - That's it. Now, hit "OK." Wyre Bash will now create your Bash Patch, which is where all the magic of FCOM happens. It will take a few minutes for this to finish. ________________________________________ 18. Download and install OBSE - http://obse.silverlock.org/ Once downloaded, open up the archive. Drag and drop the src folder, as well as the following, into your Oblivion directory: obse_1_1.dll obse_1_2.dll obse_1_2_416.dll obse_editor_1_0.dll obse_editor_1_2.dll obse_loader.exe ________________________________________ 19. Go here and download Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM)- http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097 Once downloaded, run the installer. Have it create a shortcut on your desktop. Run the shortcut. Once OBMM opens, look on the right side of the window. Click the "Utilities" button, and from the dropdown window, select "Archive Invalidation". This will give you a popup window. From here, make sure "Mode" is set to "BSA redirection. Then, at the bottom of this window, select "Update Now". This will have Oblivion load all the new textures, meshes, and sounds that have been installed through FCOM. You only need to do this once - when you install more mods later on, you can just load em up and go! ________________________________________ If you're using FCOM on a new game, that's it; you're done! Open up Wyre Bash. In the bottom left of the window is a green box. Having a checkmark in this will ENABLE OBSE. Place a checkmark here. Then, along the bottom pane of the window, locate the Oblivion logo. Click this to launch your game with OBSE. Get busy gaming! However, if you're setting up FCOM to run on an existing save game, you still have a couple things to do. First, load up your saved game. Open the console using the ~ key, then type "coc testinghall" (without quotes). Hit enter. Once you're in the testing hall, rest for three days, plus one. Three days is the default time it takes for cells to respawn, plus one day just to be safe. Once you've rested for four days, save your game, then quit. Reopen Wyre Bash. Along the top, select the header labeled "Saves". Find your save game in the list, right click it, then choose "Update NPC Levels" from the dropdown list. This will apply all the information FCOM has on leveled lists for all NPCs to your existing save game. The process may take a couple minutes. Once it finishes, you're ready to go! Make sure OBSE is enabled (checkmark in green box in bottom left of the window), then select the Oblivion logo, and enjoy! As far as adding other mods (ESPECIALLY texture overhauls), I HIGHLY recommend playing with FCOM for a few hours to make sure it's running smoothly, that your frames are consistent, and you're having a pretty good time with it. If not, come back to these forums and ask questions. If FCOM is running good, and you get the itch to add more mods/texture overhauls, first go into your Oblivion\Data folder, and create a backup of your Meshes, Sounds, and Textures folders. It will take a LONG time (probably 15-20 minutes), but it's worth it - if another mod messes with your game, you don't have to start from scratch with the FCOM rebuild. You'd just need to delete the Meshes, Sound, and Textures folders in Oblivion\Data, then copy in your backup of the FCOM Meshes, Sound, and Textures folders.
Follow the instructions, and use your initiative with problems, and everything should turn out fine. The install process looks tricky, but it's just following instructions. Apart from a little hitch, everything went smoothly for me. Here's a link to another install guide in case this one isn't good enough. A suggestion: When you're done installing FCOM, and it works perfectly, make a backup of your data folder and load order. If you reinstall Oblivion or change hard drive, you can just copy your backed up data folder into your oblivion folder and you'll have a fully working install of FCOM without having to dick around with this installaton process for an hour. HOW TO INSTALL OBLIVION MODS FOR THE UNINITIATED: A PLANET ELDER SCROLLS GUIDE (Link) In conclusion: This game fucking rocks out loud, and is elevated to true greatness by removing the filthy console slurry it's covered with by using mods, and even more with the imaginative, terrifying, and wonderful content that the community churns out. An essential purchase. Thread Music:
Murder! Murder! Someone's been murdered! [editline]12:41PM[/editline] I think I'm going to TRY to get the rest of FCOM
Personally, I like 'Help! MUUUURRRDDERRR!!' I wish I was kidding, it actually sounds like that.
I still haven't figured out why I'm not seeing any new items with Francesco's mod.
The best conversation I ever heard was between an innkeeper and an imperial city guard. "Greetings." "How are you." "They say that Kvatch has been overrun by Daedra." "NNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" "Interesting. Goodbye."
Was reading up on WarCry and now i definitely need to get FCOM
I don't get why people like FCOM.
Fix'd.
Also, you should add this to the OP http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7819 Companion Mod, it's really cool pic related, it's me and my clan
Holy shit, I never realized the Guard Overhaul was so good. I thought it only made the guards extremely weak and easy to avoid, but it actually balances the game, and NPCs can get arrested now. A guard a Skingrad will no longer arrest me because of a crime I commited in the Imperial City seven game days ago. Is it compatible with the Game of the Year Deluxe version of the game?

This thread has inspired me to start playing again.
Some mods aren't compatible with the DLC in the Deluxe Edition.
Why wouldn't mods be compatibly with the devs dlc?
Why wouldn't mods be compatibly with the devs dlc?
Don't know, but I've read in the readmes of some mods that they had to make patches to be compatible with the DLC.
I want to find something to motivate me to play Oblivion again. Maybe WarCry will work.
The only thing my oblivion needs now is dragons!
This is a quality thread with an information filled OP. Well done!
Achilles, I downloaded MMM using that link you gave me in the other thread, but the only file in the download is a .BSA file, no textures or anything. Is this correct? [editline]02:27PM[/editline]
This is a quality thread with an information filled OP. Well done!
I agree. It isn't just one of those "Other thread got closed, go to this link to view the information. Discuss" new threads.

If you used a different one, I don't think I can help you, lemme check the link and see if I'm actually correct.
I searched tesnexus for dragon, I notice something potentially hilarious, I clicked for more info and I see the worst fucking addon ever. "pastes red over exsisting armor"

I'll start the game to see if they work. I used the PlanetElderScrolls link, not the Filefront.
