Space Saving Help?

Well this isnt really help right? I am only asking a question about something that isnt a problem!

Here is what the post was!

-I have a quick question, lets say i go to the Steamapps folder and cut one of the gcf's!

Lets just say i cut team fortress 2 content.gcf and paste it on another disk, and then i make a shortcut to it and place the shortcut in steamapps would tf2 still work?

If not are there any other ways of saving and getting more space?-
