Does any user on FP still plays or has played those 2 games?
The last time I played them was probably 2003, yesterday I came across the CD case of both while cleaning my room and I've had the idea to replay them, I found them really nice the last time I played them, digging gold and building rooms and then doing huge rushes to good guys bases, the only negative thing was that I had problems running Dungeon Keeper II because it won't run properly on newer computers (it's because of the graphic acceleration of newer graphic cards, DKII doesn't support it).
How to run Dungeon Keeper II on Windows Vista/7
[release]Turn on Windows 2000 compatibility, Turn off Visual Design support (in settings dk2.exe). Make sure no other background program is running as no process (probably d/l program - this will cause flickering Screen). Add "...\Dungeon Keeper II\dkII.exe" -softwarefilter -32bitdisplay to DK2.exe starting options.
If Black Squares instead of Textures are upcoming: Start Game. Go to settings ingame, go to graphics, disable Hardware support. start a mission. Now it must work. Leave Game per official exit.
if you are using a dual core, Start Game, press strg+alt+del, go to Taskmanager and disable cores until only one core is left for following processes: DKII.exe DKII.icd (this is for providing uncontrolled mouse moves ingame) Switch back to DK2 per TAB.
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bullfrog Productions Ltd\Dungeon Keeper II\Configuration\Video" settings:
Screen Depth = 32
HighWalls = 0
if Game wont start without 3D Hardware enabled:
Screen Hardware3D = 4 (probably 5 if hanging up)
[/release]
How to run Dungeon Keeper II on Windows XP
[release]
Go to Control Panel > Screen > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshooting > Disable hardware acceleration
This method always works
[/release]
I've played a little bit of Dungeon Keeper 1 when I was little. Recently came upon my CD again, but discovered it wouldn't work.
I wish they would make a Dungeon Keeper 3, I really enjoyed DK 1&2.
I always loved making my dungeon safe from any kind of attack and then just sit back and enjoy my monsters training, I especially loved maps where there were Gem deposits for me.
Yep. DK1 is one of the top 5 rts'es for me. Getting a fully trained warlock and controlling him is really effective.
I think I heard somewhere that EA sold the rights to dungeon keeper to some korean MMO company. Im not sure though.
It is payday.
Creatures are annoyed, you cannot pay them.
Creatures are vandalising your dungeon!
CREATURES ARE DESERTING!
Attention the lord of the land approaches.
Dammit bullfrog.
I never played the first one, but I loved the second one. Too bad you have to run it in software mode to get it to work in Windows 7.
i dunno if this is legit, but i found a download for dungeon keeper 2. i also dont know if this is warez, but have a go at it

It definitely is.
I have DKII, but all I've played of it is the tutorial (first game of the campaign). I feel like I need to give it more of a chance.
huh,DK2 runs pretty well on mine
well,I got XP, but still
Yeah... We few users of the primitive OSes like XP still get the luxury of playing older games. The only thing we don't get is the luxury of playing Just Cause 2.
I got my DK2 to run on vista, should work on 7.
Anyway that game is amazing. And yes, there are rumors of a korean company taking over DK3, but, like always, they are going to screw it up.
Appearently it will be more of a generic rts, a bit like what happened to The Settlers series. "To attract more new players."

You are not really missing out on that much, the game might be insanely fun in the first few hours, but after that its boring as hell.
And now that bolopatch does not even work anymore, its barely worth having at all.
Also, as you might have guessed, im running windows 7, but i still made DKII work.
DK II is one of the awesomest games ever made. . . .
Bullfrog broke after that, and most of them made "Lionhead Studios" then, which created Black & White 1 and 2.
A dungeon keeper 3 would be awesome :)
Another B&W 1 would be awesome. The second was like a different game.
And I'm pretty sure I read something on RPS about a Korean company making a DK3 and it looking awesome.
I always got annoyed at DK 1.
My dragons kept going into the library instead of the training room.
Fukkin nerds.
In the last DK megathread i posted how to get this running on Win Vista and 7. it should be quoted in the OP, if you feel like looking for it.
Link it if you can, too lazy for looking for it.

OP updated with some infos about running Dungeon Keeper II on newer systems
also,DK2 was abandonware last i checked,so it's legal to download it
It is not
also,DK2 was abandonware last i checked,so it's legal to download it
Abandonware doesn't make it any more legal to pirate, the copyright was never revoked even when the game isn't sold anymore.
It's more like the copyright holder doesn't give a shit anymore, but it's still technically illegal.
EA sold the rights to some chinese company that will make a MMORPG out of it, and it never was abadonware because DK assest was purchased by EA along with the whole Bullfrog company
I thought I read somewhere that a dungeon keeper MMO was being made, it was in the news node some time ago I think.
ooh a tiny bit late

Alternately change the renderer to OpenGL works every time. Done in the same key.
if they ever release that dungeon keeper mmo, they'll just ruin the series
Dungeon Keeper, MMO?
I'd like a balance between SP and MP, but an optional one.
You know, just like some newer games, like borderlands.

Except they're pulling a warcraft this time... though i find it hard to imagine just how a Troll can get upsaid because of not getting his pay when it's player controlled.
It's not an MMO, I've seen some stuff on RPS. Apparently they're actually not ruining it. And they're Korean, not Chinese
Sorry for the bump, this game is just great. Started playing it again recently. Found a modification somewhere that lets you play on Windows 7/vista etc, of course Dosbox still works which I prefer since this version has limitations.
Try it out:

Sucks with setting it up in some ways though.
Anybody knows where one can buy this? Or is this abandonware or something?

I've seen it in some shops, it's a rare sight now since it doesn't work on vista/7 and it's very old. Best bet is to buy it online though. :/
