Hey, I'm your average shadow sneaking forum lurker. Nice to meet y'all. I've recently got back into the original Half-Life and its modding community. Out of all the games on my hard-drive, HL is perhaps the single one that has the power to absorb me into its mythology time and time again. The game just has such a humbling charm about it that I can't resist. I'm also terribly addicted to mods that tell the Black Mesa story from another point of view, I've never quite sussed out why. Perhaps I have a secret fetish for expanded universes or maybe I just love the "shit-hitting-the-fan" effect of aliens rampaging around a secret lab in the desert, but I'm not here to discuss that. I'm here to chat about point of view mods and perhaps discover a couple old gems along the way that I might've missed first time round. I'm wondering if anybody out there in the facepunch community shares the same love of these POV mods as me. If this thread recieves enough attention, I may even consider drafting out a megathread/database of info exclusively for POV mods and any POV mods in the making for everyones convinience. (sorry if it's been done before, this was kind-of an impulse thing and I didn't bother searching) So, what are your favourites? I'm particularly partial to Point Of View and Visitors myself. Point Of View especially, thanks to its lovable alien weapons and imaginitive Xen levels (that don't just look like floating rocks) and the ending certainly left me with a warm feeling of satisfaction. Don't be afraid to discuss HL2 POV mods either.

Azure Sheep. It exists in the same timeline as Point of View, only you play as a Black Mesa Security guard.
Provenance was good, even though it's unfinished, it's good.
Maybe Black Mesa
Maybe Black Mesa
you're doing it wrong

BlackOPS, Case Closed, Half-Life Escape, Half-Life Invasion, Poke646 + Vendetta and Someplace Else are pretty good hl1 mods taking place in the same universe
Point of View was an amazing mod. I loved that to death. Ending disappointed me though.
I think the only point of view mod I've played us Half-Life Decay. I thought it was good.
I think the only point of view mod I've played us Half-Life Decay. I thought it was good.
Because valve originally made it(it was on the ps2 version of hl1)
Maybe Black Mesa
BOXES 4 U! ^_^ I really want to download combine destiny and give it a whirl, but I can't do any more downloading until I get my new external hardrive (500mbs left, it's not even enough to download most model packs here). I think what really kicked it off for me was playing through Opposing Force after I completed HL. Oh how I wish Adrian would come back, he was a cool cat. Provenance looks pretty interesting too, Black Mesa's always seemed way too expansive to have been destroyed by that one nuke alone. It'll be haunting to go back into the test chambers after the nukes (when I have more memory)
Swarm. I doubt anyone knows it here. It was a team based multiplayer addon for original Half-Life where you could play as aliens, or humans. It was nice to be a Gargantua, and burn humans.
Poke646 + Vendetta
Uh, Poke646 didn't take place in Black Mesa or anywhere near it. It was in some random city somewhere.
Uh, Poke646 didn't take place in Black Mesa or anywhere near it.
Maybe Black Mesa
That was a joke, haha, fat chance :downs:
Because valve originally made it(it was on the ps2 version of hl1)
No. Decay is made by Gearbox.
I'm waiting for Cat-Life. The story of black mesa told from the point of view of a scientists pet cat.
Point Of View, You play as a vortigaunt. Mentioned in your post, but it's still my favorite.
