I am happy with what Infinity Ward is doing with Modern Warfare 2.

9vs9 player cap.
CoD4 was intended to be a more arcade-ish multiplayer. Not realistic ones with huge maps and 200 players online. So when you joined a server on the map Crossfire while you're playing sabotage and there would be 32 players online, it would be absolute chaos.
There wouldn't be any tactics or anything similar to that skillbase because you'd spawn and then die after 5 seconds.
So 9vs9 is a very suitable player limit.
No un-official player hosted dedicated servers.
So infinty ward will be hosting the servers for us ? Fantastic!
Now I will always get good letancy and quality servers. And no dumbass 10 year old admins who ban you for "camping".
No mods.
I'm not really happy about this one. Nor am I sad. So I could not care less about mods.
Besides.. 90% of all mods are always shit.
Now since most of you guys base your opinion on other peoples opinion and bash Infinity Ward for making these decisions:
I will propably not look at this thread again since I already know how the comments will be like.
9v9 is alright in my book, I usually avoid numbers higher than that in most the games I play.
If they can pull off the dedicated servers without a hitch, it won't be so bad.
Of course when they are hosted on Dedicated servers, you can't do much in the way of mods. That sucks.
Actually I agree with you
So far i know IW won't be hosting the actual servers; just the login/data one
CoDMW2 doesn't seem to bring much new stuff to the series. Anyhow I don't care too much cause I'm not getting the game. I'm gonna save my money and wait for BF: Bad Company 2 instead.

Yes they will, that's the point.
I prefer playing games with lots of people, 9 per team doesn't cut it.
and how could no dedicated servers possibly be a bad thing?
as for mods, I never really played and mods for CoD4 but I played (and enjoy) some custom maps.
9v9 is already what there was on consoles.
I wish it was higher, because it doesn't matter what your reasoning is, a higher cap is ALWAYS more fun.

Not always, ever play on TF2 servers with over 20 people? Shit just gets ridiculous.
PC can support more players, why not take advantage of that? It seems they're just being greedy and making the game they want to play, rather than what the community wants, like how they took co-op because they didn't like it and said it ruined the experience, fuck that, co-op makes pretty much any game 10x more fun eg I find Halo 3 incredibly boring in single player but on co-op me and my friends have a blast.
Why take away the choice of letting us choose how many players we want in a server?
Why take away the ability for us to have our own dedicated servers for clan matches and so forth.
Why take away the option of customising the game?
Please tell me when Infinity Ward decides to answer us.
Watch this all turn out to be ads and when the game comes out, it's the complete opposite and has all this stuff we wanted.
What was up with taking out the ability to lean? What's the point in even doing that?
What was up with taking out the ability to lean? What's the point in even doing that?
I use lean pretty often actually. It can be pretty good as a sniper for example.
IW is dead to me as a PC developer.
The only thing I agree with is the 9v9 part. Dedicated servers and mods shouldn't have been removed. However I'm still getting the game for the pc.

Yeah. I hate the nazi IW.
Why not have both dedicated and official servers and let players choose the player cap while the official servers stay at 9 vs 9? Everyone would be happy.
It's a matter of letting people have an option.

They spite us.
They cap the players, take out mods, steal the nuke idea, remove dedicated servers.
And in the midst?
Increase the price to 59.99.
It's not like anyone's actually gonna buy the PC version anyway, I predict mass :filez: on day 1 of release.
I won't be getting it either way.

Then 2 years later you'll come back crying because they shut down the server as they weren't profitable anymore :downs:
Seriously, it's just as you being kept alive by an IV and letting a businessman run the tap whilst you pay him less and less. As soon as the costs of operating the IV go over the profit, he just shuts it down and ignores you, walking to the next "patient" because people like YOU didn't have a spine to keep saying "No" when you still could.

I sir, would like to disagree. COD has always been about a guy stuck in battles in a huge conflict. Look at MW1. You had a US invasion on an middle eastern country, which made it ideal for more players and bigger maps in multiplayer. And so is MW2, there is an invasion on american soil. So why not? Plus, having bigger maps makes it more intense and fun, you don't feel that chaotic, epically when people spam nades.
And COD have the potential to be something like battlefield. Like CODUO. But I do not know why people dislike vehicles and large maps with big battles.

Because people at least little remote from the servers will have bad latency.
And I bet they are not going to host them for too long. When MW3 comes, they gonna cut the servers (or even sooner), and you will be no longer able to play MP.

Console sales.
And so they can say next time that their game wasn't popular enough on PC and make it a console exclusive.
:argh:

God, I wish that people would boycott it.
But, they aren't like Valve, who made the game better.

Don't play in a lot of people on a small map :downs:

Game isn't balanced for lean.
Game isn't balanced for lean.
"Isn't balanced"
is the only excuse they throw at us.
Game isn't balanced for lean.
If it isn't, balance it to be, then :downs:
Oh well, I'm not going to bother anyway. It looks like overhyped rubbish
