There used to be some information here, but everyone hated the idea, so there is no need to look at this post anymore.

It's really lovely that you want to make a new game but... No thanks.

Post some of your work. You really can't be on a mod team, especially lead one at that, unless you already have some substantial work under your belt. I'm speaking from experience.
I really don't see the point in making an entire new sequel to L4D, anyway. Few people even want Valve to make it; that's why they haven't. Currently, you have more planned content than what either L4D was released with. I'd much rather see one unique and well-polished campaign than six/seven mediocre ones, which is what you'd get if you want to finish the game within the next decade, and you'll probably want to do it yourself so you can learn all of the ropes.
Also, you mentioned that if you "get enough people to work on it, you can make the game quickly" (I'm paraphrasing). That is NOT the way to go about thinking about it. Tacking on more people to work on a project will just make things confusing and difficult. You want your dev team to be as small as possible, trust me.

post examples please
Let me pretend for a moment that this is actually going to get somewhere.
Is it a good idea to add another bunch of survivors to the story, even fan-made?
What L4D series needs is a proper closure. Aka what happened to the world.
Did we drive the zombies off?
Are humans just sitting in safehouses?
If you want to be an ideas guy, at least think the story through. Make some map mockups, at least on paper!
You post so many ideas without thinking any of them through!
Come up with an actual storyline for this! You have a campaign that takes place in San Francisco. Why do the survivors want to go there?
"C-130 pilot From Dead Air. And I know people are always wanting this, but Keith, Ellis' buddy, will be in the game. Then there will be some girl that will have a lot better personality than Rochelle, and will be enthusiastic. And then I have no idea what to have as a fourth character"
C-130 pilot: How did he get from Pennsylvania to Arizona?
Keith: It's a running gag! He just won't work as a playable character in a L4D game.
"Some girl": Are you serious? "a lot better personality than Rochelle" - all that can be gathered from this is that you don't like Rochelle!"
4th character: You couldn't even come up with an original character.
You throw in so many ideas, but none of them are expanded to the point where they can actually work. You say you were planning this for a while, but what you show us here doesn't indicate that at all.
post examples please
I am doing star's koth tf2 map contest, so I can show you that. I also have a brother who is. Also good at making maps. I also know all the tools in hammer editor and know all the skills in making a good map. I will show you my brother's map and mine after the contest. I don't want to show you an incomplete map.
Ok so let me get this straight, you come up with the ideas and expect everyone else to do the level design, coding, modelling and texturing.
No sir
make it. FORCE VALVE TO WORK ON HALF LIFE
leave no reason for a official L4D3

They can't count to three, so the couldn't do it if they wanted to.
But don't worry, they'll probably release something like Richochet 2 and Day of Defeat: United Offense before too long.

Fuck no, of course I will help work on those things. I meant that I needed people to help along. You think I should do all of that by myself? Of course I need people to help, but that doesn't mean I'm not helping.
hey im a really good mapper but my blender broke so i cant upload maps anymore but i can make a lot of sick and original plots/stories
let me link you to my deviantart
If you're doing something, SHOW IT.
SHOW ALL THE MAPS, ALL THE MODS, anything you worked on. Don't say when, where, SHOW IT.
I don't understand why this isn't priority #1 at Valve. Ricochet was a good game.
They probably have this other title you haven't heard of that everyone is sick of getting no info on ever since it was announced years ago.

Ricochet 2 = EP3/HL3
If you want to work on a project, try working on something small with two friends tops that's not going to get slaughtered with a C&D letter immediately.
Work on a small mapping project by yourself. Learn basic level design, brushwork, and how to import custom assets.
Writing a list of what-ifs isn't useful at all.
i one day dream to have an op that ISNT an ideas guy
If a group of idiots can make Revelations 2012, I guess everyone can make a game similar to L4D.

They just took L4D code base, replaced icons and... that's all. Oh and made shitty maps!
ok if you do this, dont use l4d2 crap engine please.. use l4d1
maybe it should be called left 5 dead because they're more than left for dead
yeah then should we make you portal 3???
yeah then should we make you portal 3???
Well, yes, it is a good idea for new characters. Its in the west, why would like the l4d1 or l4d2 characters go to the south? And for the thing with closure, it didn't look like the other two games told what happened to the world, but all I know is, all of America is infected, but Europe, Asia, and Africa seem to be okay. No, zombies aren't driven off, they are technically barricaded in by the ocean. Why do you think they blew up the bridge in the Parish, so the zombies can be limited of travel. Are humans stuck in saferooms, well if you look at the graffiti on the walls in the rooms, there is like 10 other survivors that went out of the saferoom, but thats up to the survivors I guess (something like the church guy in death toll). We're not playing like 20 different survivors.
Now the story, I'm not going to write up like 20 paragraphs on a post but only to get ended up being told "Its going to take too long to make the campagins, no thanks". We're talking about gameplay and a short summary. And mock up maps, I was going to show them LATER. Its not like you just put everything you have on one post and end up...yeah you know. I did think through all of the ideas, I imagine the design of all of them and how they will all go. The survivors go to San Francisco because the man with the RV in which you meet with in the campaigns Dry Wind, The Delivery, and the beginning of The Crash Rush tells you about his friend who lives near the coast that can help them and he tells his friend to help you guys. And you seem to be very into anxious for a storyline. Isn't the storyline the same as the other 2 games: You are in a zombie invasion, you fight the zombies through cities, forests, etc., you get help from people in vehicles, you get the fuck out of your country, the end. There, thats your story, let alone the story for all 3 games. If you want a very detailed story, I can post a Microsoft Word Document all for you if you desperately want to know the story.
Ok, now the survivors information. "C-130 pilot: How did he get from Pennsylvania to Arizona?" I thought he was a pretty cool character, so I felt it would be a good idea to have like someone from the original game and to actually play as him. How did he get there, He flew his plane west, plane ran out of fuel or something, crashed in the water, the other three survivors noticed the plane crash, decide to help him, thats how he joined the group. Keith, I know it was a joke but like I said, I noticed a lot of people really hope for him to be in the next game, so why not, it will truly please everyone. For the girl in which I have no idea what to name her, probably Anna or something, Well, what else is to explain, she has enthusiasm. Now you think I'm saying that because I hate Rochelle. Well, yes I do, but seriously, she's like just some random guy on the street that just follows what everyone else is doing just to fit in. For the 4th character, I will think of the personality, what the person will look like and everything. But does that really matter. All what we are talking about is what the gameplay is. I'm not going to just completer give an essay for each character for their background and their personality tests and end up being... you know.
"You throw in so many ideas, but none of them are expanded to the point where they can actually work. You say you were planning this for a while, but what you show us here doesn't indicate that at all." Alright, you want proof, I will make the Document, yeah for you. You seem to be so into the story, alright, I will write the story.
Can I be the cheesy tagline guy?
