The Gods have disappeared and the old sun has died, letting a vile twilight engulf the world of Nyn. In exchange for all treasures the mortals possessed, the evil giants agreed to forge a new sun and hurl it into the sky.
But the deal was betrayed, the treasure stolen and now the mortals flee the wrath of the giants. Under the light of a new sun the mortals stumble into a world changed and twisted by an age of twilight. The long journey home has become a conquest of survival.
You are a Skylord. Once a mortal hero, you long ago gained immortality and became a counsellor to the Gods. For generations you have lived with them in their majestic fortress floating in the skies over the magical world of Nyn.
The fortress of the Gods was named the Forge of Creation for it grants the ability to bring the world's legends to life; use this ability to help guide the fates of the mortals on the surface below.
Conjure up wonders of old, bring about storms and wildfires or wonderful blessings and mystical healings. At your word, legendary creatures spring to life, heroes, monstrosities, dragons and spirits are shaped of pure elemental power to do your bidding. Monumental structures and mighty fortresses of old rise from the earth wherever you desire.
Until now the Gods held you back, centuries passed while the Forge slumbered. But now, the Gods have gone and you are needed. In this Age of Twilight, it is time for the Skylords to seize the power of the Forge. Some will use it to help the mortals of Nyn, others to do battle among themselves. The Forge of Creation has become the BattleForge.
BattleForge is a card based RTS. It revolves around trading, buying and winning through means of micro-transactions. Micro-transactions are not required for playing the game, only for buying new cards.
There are a total of 200 cards available, almost equally divided between the powers of fire, frost, nature, and shadow. Players can buy and sell cards at an in-game auction house, using BattleForge Points (BF Points), an in-game currency. Players can also invite each other to conduct a direct trade.
It's perfectly possible to keep up with people who spend money without spending any yourself.
I really wasn't sure about this game when I first heard of it, now I'm downloading it and plan on trying it out.
It's free, I've nothing to lose :D

Woot, download is only 84mb.
The funny thing is, I found this as an advertisement on the battlefield-heroes site.
This was supposed to be EA's new huge money monster. It didn't work out that way.

Kinda where I thought you found it :3:
My nickname is VennSkywalker

Since usernames can't have numbers and venn was taken.
I tried the demo, It was Ok, nothing spectacular, a shame that they put a massive restriction on the auction house... Level 10 PvP and Level 4 PvE to use it, ouch
You have to use real cash to buy cards
Still worth a shot, though.

[tab]We all know EA can't give up a cash whore without at least getting something out of it.[/tab]
You have to use real cash to buy cards
Not what I read in the FAQ, you can get the Battle Points or whatever they're called by auctioning cards at the marketplace, which can be used then to buy cards or booster packs.
Although cash can buy those points too.
So the download is 84mb but I bet that's just the launcher to download the full game?
[editline]07:17AM[/editline]
So do you buy these cards at a place like Quick Trip, or more like Gamestop?

It's around a 2.7 gig Download after that 84 meg, and sure you can get the points from auctioning off your cards at the Auction house, but you lose your card, only to gain a few points, maybe enough to buy a new one or two, maybe not, either way I don't think it's possible to get all the cards without forking over some cash
I downloaded this like two hours ago, expecting to get right on. Then the 3 gig download hit me in the face.
Heh.
This game is more enjoyable than I expected. I think I'll keep this on my computer for quite some time.
Ditto that.
I still prefer heroes of might and magic.
Anyways how do you get those points? Battle with someone? Buy them?
Wow, and all this time I thought BattleForge was a new Blizzard WoW thing.

No it's either 10 pvp or 4 pve since I hit level 4 pve yesterday and it was all "FULL GAME UNLOCKED WHEEE"

100 battleforge points gets you a booster with 8 cards in.
Free? Free is always a good thing. Also is it really the full game? Or are we only getting a small part (or a time limited trial)?
How is this game? If I don't give a shit about card games like Magic or it's ilk, is it still fun?

I think it's somewhat like Magic, only that the creatures are not cards and actually fight like in a RTS. But I'm not sure since I haven't played this yet.

Are all the servers down for everybody or what? I get 4 servers and all are down.
Playing, and I'm currently on the server Juggernaut (Because it's U.S/U.K) and it's actually quite fun.
Going for a Shadow/Nature deck.
This is definitely worth playing.
I'd like to do an ice/nature combo, but it lacks the big-time finishing explosives such as the rifleman squad's dark grenade or the giant fire explosion spell.
I just now realized I posted all of this on my alt. Heh.
