I just found out that I still have X³ installed and on a CD beneath my desk, and since I'm a fan of space games, I decided to play it. Now while I get the basics of gameplay, I really have no idea how to get going in any direction with this game.
I don't want to play the campaign, because being in a game with this much freedom and then having storyline doesn't feel right for me, I tried the campaign for about an hour earlier, I don't like it.
So I started a new game with the merchant preset, followed tips given earlier by other people here and sold my discoverer, and they said I should start mining until I have enough money to buy bigger ships and better equipment.
Now I sold just about everything I had, but I can't find anything that looks like mining equipment that is in my price range.
How am I getting money in the start?
What do I need for mining?
Where do I start mining?
What should I buy next?
Some help would be greatly appreciated, as I really find this game to be beautiful and immersive, at least from what I've played.
Oh, and I don't have Terran Conflict, I have X³ 2.0 with "Bala Gi's Research Missions".
