Our team is making a freeroam superhero game and we need some more ideas for possible gameplay and abilities.
We do have the "core" almost complete, but nothing that would actually make it fun.
In game you make a hero(kinda similar to superhero mmos(dc universe, champions online, etc) and do stuff.
Gameplay is similar to prototype/gta but you get many different abilities unlike in prototype.
What ideas we are looking for is interesting abilities and possibly gameplay features. Also it supports coop. Not entirely sure as to how many max players will be yet though.

Can you tell a bit about the storyline? A name is focused on that a lot
Spiderman 2 style random missions.
I'll come up with some more later.

What are you talking about? There are no spiderman or superman. They're copyrighted characters.

The base is that you're an artificially made human/hero. You find yourself in a test tube in abandoned lab.
Then you can either investigate to find more or just ignore it and do whatever you want.
The ability to blow shit up, destroy buildings n' shit.
As well as being able to go into a lot of buildings.
Oh, and the possibility of stealth, and if detected, you can wait the thing out.
Main character should be a sort of anti hero like Hancock. I've never been a fan of heroes in tights.

Each mission has 3 endings. Good, bad and neutral. Good is when you help them, bad is when you do something bad. And neutral is if you just ignore it.
You don't need to be a good guy. Kill people, don't kill them. Help criminals move drugs. Many different stuff.
Have a hancock hero.
Call him asshole.
don't make it floaty and boring like Prototype
There should also be as much customization as say...APB or Champions, another idea is like, randomized situations across the whole city/area, like muggings, jackings, robberies, hostage situations, terrorist attacks, etc.
Plus, besides travel powers, how about cars too? Cars, planes, copters, and the ability to use firearms, besides all your powers.
Oh, and about the inisde buildings thing, like, no map loads, i mean actualy able to go inside from the main roamable area.
character customization is p. good most of the time
Also, try not to make it "Small" Like, spiderman 2 or prototype.
And by small, i mean, it just seems small, make it big, like just cause 2, and the camera not too far away, but not too close to the Protagonist, so it makes the world huge, and explorable.
It would help in any stealth situations too.

If it was had the customizability of champions, the world size of just cause 2, and the gameplay of a shooter and action game combined, i think that'd be cool.

Instead of the common fire, handblasts, etc.
Have the ability to control fire like a whip, and blast people around corners n' shit, and the ability to mind control several people at once, and make them suicide, or fight amongst eachother.
Or like, the ability to completely mind control enemies to do entire tasks too dangerous for you to do, with little cost if the mind controled enemy dies.

Being able to pick up streetlights and wield them as two handed maces to smack in some faces and send your enemies flying, like in Freedom Force.
Okay, how about manipulating the physical form of enemies into something like nercomorphs, that'd do your bidding, and would follow you.?
You should include a decent amount of aesthetic customization, so you can really create the hero you want. Maybe even allowing custom textures for your own insignia or something.
Powers could become more powerful as you do. For example: At first if you can fly, it might only be possible to have short sustained flight for a couple blocks. Later on you can fly across a city and keep going.
How bout power that can make enemies/cars/buildings implode! in fucking flames also giant lazorbeams
Superpower creator. Have it sorta like stat allocation, have a certain amount of power points to raise things such as damage, effects, range, aoe, healing, ect. Also, have a power designer, like the character creation, except you can design how your powers travel, look, hit enemies, and shit like that.

That'd be great if I want to use telekinesis to lift everybody around me and then they all explode into flames.
I guess if you're serious about game design, don't do something that's already been done, but better.
You need something similar to force lightning.
I love the ability to shoot lightning from your hands
the power to turn into a pop can ring and choke small sea animals
