Hey guys, sorry to bother you over such a petty matter like this. :c
I have lent the original disc of Half Life to my friend. He installed it and ran it, but when he launches the game, it swaps to Win 7 Basic (as normal on Windows 7) and then the error appears- Half Life Launcher has stopped working (just in a windows box)
I can't give him the steam key as I have already redeemed it.
I have already told him to disable DEP for the shortcut, but he claims it has not stopped the crash.
Any help?

Go over to his house and make sure he disabled DEP properly.
I can't think of anything else that would cause this problem.
I've had a similar issue with the disc versions (WON) of Half-Life and Counter-Strike. It seemed to give me errors about RAM and also random crashes. [U]Have you tried using the Windows compatibility features?[/U] I set mine at Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and it works perfectly after that.
