I download all my addons through the garrysmod.org site. I downloaded the City 8 District 9 map by TacoNBanana some time ago but I didn't really use it. Yesterday, I was just fooling around on that map when, near the start point, right behind me, there's two little screen-like things with a tiny pad on it. Just for curiosity, I stepped on the right one and used it. A woman combine voice started talking, so I just ignored it and stepped off and headed to the exit. Then, I just went flying around the map to check it out, I put some NPCs and some addon weapons and I start playing around. Suddenly, I realised all my sound clips were gone! No sounds coming out of my weapons, neither death sounds, steps, NPCs, nothing. The only two things that were still giving sound were addon weapons and vehicles (addons and pre-loaded ones). Besides that, pre-loaded weapons and every NPC (pre-loaded or addon) would not make a sound.
I tried uninstalling and updating my sound driver, tried deleting the GMod folder manually, deleting local content through Steam and nothing. The sound won't simply come back. Not even the menu sounds work. I went to check out my GMod folder, and I saw that there was no sound folder. I don't know if I had one before or not, I simply open the garrymod folder to extract stuff to the addons and map folders. The rest of my other Steam games work like a charm and all my system sounds are good.
I'm on Win XP SP3, my motherboard is an Asus P5KPL/EPU, my CPU is an Intel Pentium Dual Core, my sound driver is the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver (the latest version that there is on the Asus support page) and my graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 5770.
