Hey Facepunch!
Today my new PS2 slim came in the mail and I've been playing all my old favorite games and my nostalgia meter is sky high. I cant help but smile re-watching the intro to FFX, or kicking ass in Kingdom Hearts 2. Stealing from nature to pay for a doghouse in Harvest Moon or trying to beat the president in a race in Road Trip.
I was wondering if you guys in facepunch ever buy old consoles strictly for the sense of nostalgia? If so what console and what games?
My sister recently bought a N64 so she could play Mario 64 and BanjoKazooie, and other games like Pokemon Snap and Yoshi's Island or whatever that yoshi game was.
i bought a NES just to play Mario 1,2 and 3 with those game pads
and i recently bought an original gameboy with tetris
Who says I need to buy them?
I still own all my originals, from NES to Jaguar. :smug:
My older brother just bought a PC-Engine.
You want my broken Xbox? Worked only for 3 months, and even then, it barely worked!
I still have my original Xbox. DAMN some of those games are old.
I still have my Dreamcast from when I was a kid. It's a broken shell of it's former self, but it still holds a place on my mantle.
Emulators my friend.
Though there's no great emulators for ps2 games.

Dreamcast was the best console ever. Broke all the time though.
I still remember crying when I read that Dreamcasts would be discontinued, and Sega would never make any more consoles. I looked over at my Genesis and Dreamcast and I was like "Don't worry guys I'll always keep you" and practically cuddled 'em.
I still have them on my shelf, but neither work. They just serve as a reminder to me of a more innocent, optimistic time in my life. :frown:
I saw a Dreamcast at my local flea market, I should get it when I have the money...
Still have my N64. It still works too.
I still have a Dreamcast. It works.
[sp]Most of the time.[/sp]
I also have an NES, and I would have a Genesis had I not given it to my friend several years back... I should ask him what he did with it.
Supernintendo.
N64 has god mode.
I got a Dreamcast a while back that stopped working, but all I had to do was clean the 4 contacts between the power supply board and the mainboard. They're huge, you can't miss them. :v:
I got a N64 this Christmas.
I still have my old SNES.
I'm also buying some SNES games and a Sega Mega Drive this month.
I still have my GameBoy Color, but that is handheld, so I suck I guess.
Got rid of our PS2s long ago because we have the PS3 that has the emulator chip (60GB) so I don't need the PS2. I still really wish I got a N64 and Playstation back in the day......FUCK! I think the course of my entire life would have changed if I did get them!
When I think back to those days when I was quite young, and those were the current gen systems, I still can feel the excitement/anticipation of getting one. Quite intense nostalgia.
The oldest still work because when they made them, companies weren't fucking around. Too bad it cant be said for todays consoles.
Still have my PS1 and Xbox. I also have my Gameboy Color on my desk right now.
Consoles back in the day were tough as shit. I dropped my playstation so many times and it still worked fine. These days you drop a console and you're out of a $60 game if you're lucky
I was pretty late to the console party, I only got a gamecube around 2005 :saddowns:
I gave my first game console, my PS1, to my little cousin, so he could maybe get into gaming and we could play with each other. I was hoping I could snag it back a few years down the road when he had moved on to something else.
Then his Mom never let him play it, divorced my uncle, threw the play station away, went crazy, never saw the cousin again, never will. shit sucked.
