Seems like Xfire is trying to steal the way Steam sells games... I wonder how much profit they're going to make out of this.
If it uses the same downloading procedure that the promised "game auto-patcher" uses, screw this. I don't remember it downloading anything, and when it did, it said, "Finished downloading game update-20123xsxsomerandomshitnumbers

Seems as if they're trying to even steal the Top Preview Banner as well. This is funny.
What do you think?
Why do we need another online game distribution service? It's almost a fact that it will be pummeled down by Steam like all the others.
Maybe they can figure out that 1 euro is not 1 usd
If they extend to europe, that is.

Because it's blue.
Not really a bad idea.....xfire is pretty big.
Everyone has been doing this since forever, Steam just happens to be software and not web-based

They do have a decent platform, at the least it will be something Valve should keep an eye on.

I probably won't use it, but having competition keeps things innovative. So having it around is fine with me.
They also offer Modern Warfare 2 on the PC...I hope they figure out that they really shouldn't do that.
Damn it, this will make the PC Gaming market sort of like the whole Mac vs. PC shit.
That is, if the XFire store becomes popular enough (which would be basically around 10% or more of the entire market)

Why the hell would this be like mac v pc? That's stupid.

Well, one side of gamers would prefer XFire over Steam, and one side of gamers would prefer Steam over XFire, which would form into some big-ass conflict.

because it has a trojan rite? :downs:
But anyways, I'll stick with Steam (and stay loyal to it, NO MATTER WHAT)

Competition is a good thing nonetheless.
You're buying games god damn is it really a big deal
It's just that Xfire seems so bloated.. In game Recording (which sucks), in game broadcasting (Cool idea, but still sucks), just so many features, I don't think even 10% of the people use this stuff. I know I don't download my patches with Xfire, it's slow and unreliable, and I don't find servers with it either. They need to simplify it a bit.
i stopped using xfire after it kept crashing and giving me xfire exception errors
hahahahaha
no
It's possible that it might never turn out to be like that, but as I said, that's only if XFire gets popular enough.
There'll be people saying "Oh, XFire is better than Steam" and supporting that shit and people saying "Suck my balls, Steam is better" and so and so forth.
ok then don't use it wow that's hard

Well, think about the whole Mac vs. Fight shit. It's an OS. Is it really a big deal?

Ok lets see how apple pc arguments go
IM A MAC PC SUCKS AND IM SHINY
I'm a pc and here's why I'm a good choice.
This is what a steam/xfire argument would go:

Yes because if your OS sucks dick and your computer is locked to specific hardware then why would I want to use it.
XFire sucks. Oh well, maybe Valve will be pressured to add a bit more features to Steam.
Any suprise? Xfire is pretty popular so making an online store wouldn't be the most stupidest thing. Even though they may not be better than Steam it's more trustworthy than D2D, etc. for web-based.

I think the in-game recording is good. I have to set to something like 720x525 and capped at 30 FPS but that's because my upload rate is horrible...
It's unlikely that they'll ever be able to compete with Steam in any significant manner. EA couldn't even do it, and they've got a lot more money and a lot more sway that Xfire ever had.
If, through excellent management, Xfire does manage to compete with Steam on a global level, then why should we be upset by that? Stiff competition between companies is nothing but good for the customer.

Yeah. Even then, I think Direct2Drive will also beat it.

Why would anyone argue about that? That's like saying "Fuck Walmart, Best Buy is sooooo much better"
Besides, there's already a bunch of other digital distribution platforms. None of them are as good as Steam, however (although Impulse is pretty damn good).
