I'm currently running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit.
A while ago I purchased the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows on Amazon. I installed the latest drivers and followed the manual as directed. But for some reason it was unable to function correctly. The main issue in question was that the controller refused to connect to the wireless receiver included with the main product. I looked online and found that the issue I had was a USB driver issue. After hours of attempting to fix this issue, I decided to let it go. Since I cannot replace my mouse and keyboard, for which are probably causing the issue, I have just simply returned the controller.
Now what I am wondering is if I would have any better luck with the Wired Xbox 360 Controller for Windows?
I know it might seem odd for me to ask, but to be honest I've looked online and I haven't had any luck with this so far. And I don't feel I would like to take any risks with results that could be time wasting.
Or if you have or previously owned a Wired Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, what do or did you think of it? Did you encounter any kind of issues with it?

Wired controller is just plug n play on Vista and Windows 7. the driver is only for the little HUD that comes up when you press the Xbox button.
EDIT: basically it works perfectly for me.
EDIT2: used on WinVista 32-bit and Win7 64-bit

Works great have had it for like a year. It uses Xpadder which is easy to set up.

Thanks! Since you say that, I probably feel more inclined to purchase one now.

mhm. Microsoft makes it really easy to connect the wired ones to your PC. also they have really long wires, so you can play it without the cable feeling tight.
plus most games have controller support for them. i use mine a lot.
Yeah, if you need a basic controller for PC, wired 360 is the way to go.
Most GFWL games (and various other games too) detect the 360 controller being used and automatically choose sane controls and change various GUI elements to match the pad. It makes setup a lot easier.
Also, as stated, in Vista and above the pad is plug-and-play. For XP, you'll need to install drivers:

Wanted to update.
Just got my wired Xbox controller for my PC in today and already I can tell it's amazing. Worked straight out of the box. For first person shooters it's better to stick with the mouse and keyboard, but for racing games it's something completely different and has made a major positive impact on the way I play.
Thanks for the help everyone.
