• Quit Fussing Over Casual Gaming.

It's not killing the gaming industry at all. If you think it is, please stop. There are many developers that will never give up on their loving community. For example: Valve, Crytek, Bethesda, Bohemia, Treyarch, Bungie, Infinity Ward, Avalanche, Eidos, the list goes on. Not only do the casual games found on the Wii bring families together and provide great entertainment for a party, but they are also healthy ways to play games. They get the players up and moving, and WiiFit is a good way to lose weight, but not the best however. You have to realize that although there are a lot of casual, less serious game developers out there, they only take up half of the industry. We have great share of developers true to their community (I already listed them). I'm not against more serious gamers, but come on people, grow up and let other people have fun. tl;dr - Stop crying over people developing casual games.
"WHAT? PEOPLE PLAYING GAMES....FOR....FOR FUN? WHAT BULLSHIT!" -half of the "HARCORE" gaming community
So true. What makes it funnier is the fact that most of the people against Wii games that make the players more active are unattractive overweight 15 year olds. Edit: The reason I made this thread is because I found a Kotaku article that referred to more casual games being made as "the casualization of gaming." Yes, it was being said as if it is bad. Edit 2: Casual gaming refers to completely simple games that appeal to all audiences, or at least most. Call of Duty does not count. Edit 3: No! Nothing is getting dumbed down! Nintendo games aren't getting dumbed down if that's what you think. Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 were great games, and Skyward Sword is probably going to be pretty good.
"WHAT? PEOPLE PLAYING GAMES....FOR....FOR FUN? WHAT BULLSHIT!" -half of the "HARCORE" gaming community
honestly i have fun playing my Wii once every 8 months or so when i have a gathering of friends and we run out of actual fun things to do
Hey guys I am pro gamer have alienware and eat razer mice for breakfast.
-snip- I'm wrong.
I like my games like I like my women. Really, really easy. edit: Seriously though, I don't care about casual gaming as long as it doesn't intrude on harder game genres that require you to think and/or have skill. Oh wait, casual gaming does do that. :rolleye: Lots of franchises bending over backwards to make the game easy or "accessible." I guess some make a genuine effort to actually "streamline" the game without compromising gameplay, but many franchises just go and make the game easy as fuck for the sake of more sales, such is the for-profit game market; guess that's why I play so many mods.
I don't think the problem is the Wii's casual games but rather the Wii's casual games that are just plain bad shovelware. Only "minigame game" for the Wii I've enjoyed was Warioware: Smooth Moves which is fucking awesome
casual games are as great as hardcore games i can sit down and do hardcore gaming which often requires a lot of learning which is cool and all and has a nice payoff or i can play diner dash and rock the world of fine dining forever. what's more satisfying? both.
Peggle over Call of Duty any day
Peggle over Call of Duty any day
this i play plants vs zombies exclusively and have been playing it every day since when it came out i have master strats developed for every scenario in every level and utilize them accordingly. i haven't lost a single lawnmower in over a year. i take casual games very seriously. i am hardcore. i am elite. i'm also not really that great at the game after all
OP is just a lowly casual.
I don't see anyone saying this what are you talking about
I enjoy competitive RTS gaming, playing to win. Casual gaming is eating into that. Name a proper competitive RTS that's come out since StarCraft 2? Something with a solid e-sports community. The rush to be accessible and easy for the newly gaming soccer mom/popular kids gaming market is pushing harder stuff out. And what there is is way too often dumbed down. Look at what happened to SupCom 2. The fine Total Annihilation pedigree watered down to that. That is what casual gaming has done.
Peggle over Call of Duty any day
Facepunch can I have a THE MUTHER FUCKING WINNER rating. Please?
I don't see anyone saying this what are you talking about
It's all over Kotaku. People are acting like all games on the PC and other consoles are just ports (even though the last one that was really all that bad was GTAIV) and that with casual games, the gaming industry will just die.
The reason I like "hardcore" games, like STALKER with some obscure mod google translated from Russian, is because sometimes I like a challenge, and casual games are, no shit, made to be played casually. Not that being able to fuck around for fifteen minutes playing half assedly isn't fun too, it's just what I prefer.
What about Plants vs Zombies. I played that game more than Peggle on my iPod Touch.
Same here, mate.
What? I've never heard any fuss over casual gaming. I don't play them because I prefer more in a game.
What I don't understand is when people use "scrub" to define other players. What the hell does it even mean?
What I don't understand is when people use "scrub" to define other players. What the hell does it even mean?
scrub 2 (skrb) n. 1. A straggly, stunted tree or shrub. 2. However what pisses me off when the 2 try to invade eachother's property. For instance take league of legends, you have custom and normal matches for instant matches with no strings attached and then you have ranked matches where if you win or lose it will change your ranking. Now often casuals play ranked and don't give a fuck about their ranking, their teammates though, they do care. So what you get is a casual fucking up everyone's match and if you even so much dare to ask about it you will get this answer, which most casuals really really like : ''It's only a game dude, it's for fun and I play like I want to play'' Now if you want to have ''fun'' be my guest but please stay away from an atmosphere that you're clearly not made for or don't want to be apart of. You're ruining other people's time and enjoyment and you should be ashamed.
Peggle over Call of Duty any day
They're both casual games anyway.
Casual gaming doesn't justify overpriced garbage, if that's what you're trying to get at. [editline]17th February 2011[/editline] Also half the example developers in OP currently make nothing but "casual" games.

I don't consider Call of Duty casual.
it means they scrub the floor with u u scrub
I guess that makes sense... Not really, it sounds retarded.
I dont even know wtf casual gaming is. Sounds stupid if people fight about it
So true. What makes it funnier is the fact that most of the people against Wii games that make the players more active are unattractive overweight 15 year olds.
I am very surprised that you know most of those people.
