Listen closely. I tried this the other day out of curiosity. If you're having a problem getting Red Faction Guerilla to update or STAY updated (thanks to Steam auto-checking the files), here is an easy way to get your copy fully updated.
The only bad part about this little fix is that you have to install another program, but it's worth it to get rid of the hassle IMO.
Go here to download Impulse (a service similar to Steam from Stardock) [URL]http://www.impulsedriven.com/[/URL] and install it. (You also need a Stardock account to use it.
Right click on RFG in your Steam Library and choose CD-Key. Then choose "Copy Serial to Clipboard".
Now go into Impulse and choose "Register Product".
In the Serial Number box, paste your CD-Key from Steam in there.
In the Product Category box, choose Games.
In the Product box, choose Red Faction Guerilla.
Now just hit Add Registration.
It SHOULD, and let me emphasize [B]SHOULD[/B] register RFG successfully. (I can't verify this more than once, since I only own one copy).
Once it successfully registers RFG, you can uninstall the Steam copy. Now install it in Impulse. (Your saves will be preserved since they reside somewhere in My Documents).
Voila, you now have RFG that will update and STAY updated. Other than that, IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE STEAM VERSION.
Sorry for making this its own thread, but the RFG thread is like a year old and I didn't want to bump a thread that old.
You usually use the acronym for something only after you've used it at least once before in whatever your writing. That said, I have no idea what game you're talking about. Did you mean Red Faction: Guerilla?
