Whenever I fire up Vegas 1 on steam, It gives me that message saying it's starting up... after that, NOTHING! Though the blue box around my steam avatar goes green, it turns back blue after a short moment.
I don't think this is a problem with my specs, and yes, I have looked for a solution to this and I got things such as:
1. Disabling UAC (Didn't work)
2. Running steam as an administrator (Didn't work, again)
3. Running Vegas 1 in Service Pack 3 mode (I can't do that, I can only do service pack 2 and that doesn't work either)
Oh, and im running on Vista Ultimate 32-bit. (I think, need to check)
I really need some help with this guys. I don't want this to be a waste of money.
Update drivers.
Strange. Do the usual, update drivers bla bla bla.
Post specs just in case. Is it possible to run it in SafeMode some how? Just the game in safemode I mean.
The second doesn't work either on PC.
Looks like ubisoft was always being shit.

what do you mean, are you talking about vegas 2? vegas 2 works perfectly fine on my computer with the exception of the sound either cutting out or the repeating of gun sounds that most players have.

For me and everyone I know that bought it:
Start game
game starts
Menu lags to hell
after maybe 5 minutes you manage to get to start game
it loads a bit
crash
EVERY ONE
even the super computers.

uhhh i can run vegas 2 on a laptop.
I got it to work by downloading a no-cd crack and disabling in-game overlay.
I can run Vegas 2 perfectly. Also, I tried updating drivers, didn't work.
Don't have one of these cards? Then you aren't playin it. Also note the "XP ONLY"

I do have one of those cards, but BULLSHIT! XP only?
Though I did get it in a bundle with Vegas 2. Damn you, Ubisoft, you win this time.
I thought I read somewhere that someone got it to work with Vista.
sorry bro
[sp]derp[/sp]
I don't have one of those cards.
explains why.
Ubisoft sucks.
I play Vegas on Vista and Windows 7 so that isn't true

That is the Vegas 1 specs. I almost think you just don't like Ubisoft because of their DRM or something.
I've played both Vegas 1 & 2 on Vista...
How come if it doesn't work on vista, I am able to run it? I have vista and run both perfectly
Works perfect for me and my friends aswell as Vegas 2, on both Vista and Win 7. So beats me, although we all bought retail, not steam.

When they decided shitty ports and shitty DRM were ok I started hating them.
This was before the band wagon.
To all of you that play Vegas 1 on Vista, did you get any errors when you first tried it?

Okay, well this is a thread for help, you aren't helping. He already bought the game.

I am helping, I told him the game is a buggy broken port, if he gets it to work he is lucky.
I can run the game perfectly.
As for my two other game companions: One of them can't use mouse3 and the other one can't open doors from cover.
This happened to me too, but I found a workaround:
Go to Settings in Steam, then In-Game and uncheck "Enable Steam Community In-Game".
Well, worked for me at least, but you should give it a try.
People need to quit posting "Well it worked for me." because that is just retardedly unhelpful.
But it gives me hope :saddowns:

Although doing that didn't work.
