Call of Duty went from World War II to modern days, by going through the Vietnam War. It was considered like a concurrent to Medal of Honor, owned by EA. One of its major improvement was to always show a fucking quote when you died, which made you rage even more. History of Call of Duty Call of Duty - 2003 The very first one, the one that launched the serie. It took place during World War Two. It was followed in 2004 by an expansion pack, Call of Duty: United Offensive (Developed by Gray Matter Interactive). Three campaigns, putting you as an American soldier, a British soldier and a Soviet soldier. You're often helped by a few soldiers or even an entire tank regiment (Soviet campaign), controlled by the computer. You are not a One man army, and your teammates will help you during the game. CoD was one of the first game that featured a shellshock effect. When there was an explosion near you, your vision became blurred, you moved slower, heard some high-pitched noise. American campaign : The campaign begins with Pvt. Martin, member of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. You start by training yourself at Camp Toccoa, in Georgia (US), on 9 August 1942. The first missions occurs toward midnight on 5 June 1944, as part of the airborne operations. This is the beggining of the invasion of Normandy. You land outside the town of Sainte-Mère-Eglise as a pathfinder to lay a drop zone beacon. The paratroopers scatters, and you end up in a unit formed from various companies. British campaign : The first mission of the British campaign has Sgt. Jack Evans and unit from the 6th Airborne Division, taking part in Operation Tonga, on 6 June 1944. You are dropped from Horsa gliders near Pegasus Bridge. You capture it and defend it from german forces. This is the first appearance of Captain Price, which will come back in later Call of Duty games. Soviet campaign : This occurs during the battle of Stalingrad, on 18 September 1942. You are Sgt. Alexei Ivanovich Voronin, and in one of the many barges transporting Soviets across the Volga. Many of these barges are destroyed on the way by german artillery or airplanes. Once you are across the river, you are unarmed and you have to dodge machine gun bullets and find a Sniper. Soviet artillery clears out the german MGs, allowing you to enter the Red Square. Screenies : . Call of Duty 2 Now that is an awesome game. Again, World War II is here. Many weapons, like M1 Garand, Kar98k, Springfield, PPSh-41 (Which was incredibly unnefective.) and god damn AA Guns. You had three different campigns. The russian campaign, where you played as Private Vasili Ivanovich Koslov, soldier for mother Russia was based on the Battle of Stalingrad. Playing about half of the Russian campaign, you unlocked the English one. Fuck yeah, kill germans with Thompsons and free Libya ! And finally, you unlock the American campaign. Get wiped on Omaha beach, and free France, while killing germans for good ol' Uncle Sam. CoD2 was also adopted an auto heal sytem. Got shot ? Hide yourself for a moment, wait for your heart to stop beating and go back to fight ! And after that, what could you do ? Well, play some multiplayer of course ! Haven't played it either, so if someone could sum it up for me, I'd add it. Free Libya, for the crown ! . Call of Duty 3 That one was a joke I think. A joke made by Treyarch, that only came on consoles (PS2 PS3 Xbox360 Wii Xbox). You had 4 campaigns (American, Canadian, Polish, French/British), pretty much shit if you want my opinion. Although, you could drive god damn TIGER TANKS in multiplayer. Feel free to make an article about it. Cool lighting and rain effects. . Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare Now we're talking about real things. World War II ? get out. Make place for Modern Warfare ! Shoot Russians (Yes, from now on they'll be the bad guys ok) with M4A1 and Barrets, cut watermelons in half, raid a boat and god knows how much more awesome things. This ultra heavily scripted game made you feel like you were watching a film, and it looked really good. What could you do ? Tactical operations with a british SAS, 'Soap' MacTavish and his fellow Captain Price, aswell as the awesomely nicknamed 'Gaz', or invading an arab country with the US Rangers ? Let me tell you : Both. There is no campaign selection, the two POV follows, like a parrallel world. Oh, and what about a little trip to Pripyat ? Now for the multiplayer. The only word that comes to my mind is awesome. Many gamemode, going from Headquarters to Team deathmatch, aswell as Search and Destroy. As this game was an easy to mod game, custom gamemodes quickly came (including the obligatory Zombiemode.) You could use every weapon used during the game, excepting the Javelin, and they were all equally powerful. Well, excepting the Golden Desert Eagle. Oh yeah, you were bored of you classic looking weapons ? Complete challenges, unlock Red Dot Sights, Grenade launchers (which replaced your first perk) and other camos. Finish all the challenges for a weapon, get it blinged, get it golden ! CoD4 brought killstreaks into the party. 3 consecutive kills ? Get an UAV, get your enemies' positions for 30 seconds. 5 consecutive kills ? Get a goddamn airstrike, wipe an entire zone. 7 consecutive kills, are you cheating ? Get an Helicopter, which will fire automatically on enemies. And god knows how powerful it is. Even in softcore, you'll be quickly dead if he shoots you. Shoot it down quicly with bullets and rockets, with the help of your team. The arriving of an helicopter often meant "Teamplay time guys". And then there was perks. Get more HP, more bullets, more powerful explosions, and other things. Choose three perks between 27 (is it 27 ? Can't remember.) Well, this game was pretty much THE shit. Tactical MP5s, Helicopters, this is war guys . Call of Duty : World at War Back in World War II. But guess what ? I never ever played this game, so I won't make anything for it now. I'll see if i get the time. But, attack dogs. And also, Zombie nazis. And tanks, apparently. . Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 I'm going to play the devil's advocate according to many fanboys, but this game completely missed the point.Let's talk about the singleplayer first though. While seeming pretty nonsensical, it's like CoD4, a film. Russian ultranationalists declaring war to US, this is pretty much what this story is based on. EMP on Washington D.C, helicopters falling off the sky, freezing my ass in this moonsoon ? no problem. Truly, a film. Well, there was this submarine mission which was nearly impossible, but... The singleplayer was godd, that is certain. Maybe a bit hard, but good. I can't even find one positive point for the multiplayer. I mean, it was a port of a console version, so that means no custom mods, no servers (Yeah, hosting on PCs was a great idea IW.) This game could have been awesome, many guns, attachments, perks, killstreaks but... The guns weren't equal AT ALL. On one side, you had the TAR-21, which had nearly no recoil and killed someone in three shot, at his side you had the ACR, an automatic sniper, and in front of them, you had the F2000, an incredibly underpowered weapon, with an incredible recoil. Same goes for all the other weapons. Take a Winchester from 1887, dual wield them, then snipe people with them. Yeah, they had the wonderful idea to add the possibility to dual wield weapons. So of course, and automatic pistol became two automatic pistols, with so much spray that if you missed someone, it was time to get glasses. Who needs power when you can put many bullets? twice the rage, double the trouble. And then came the perks. Yeah, changing the perks was a good idea. But seriously, WHO had the idea tochange your loadout while being still alive ? Yay, One Man Army, I'm looking at you. Enhanced grenade spam, (Yeah, grenade launcher isn't taking the perk slot.) couled with more explosive damage... Well, you could imagine what it's like. And then came the killstreaks. Horribly overpowered for the majority of them. Harrier, what a great idea. Hover over the battlefield, oneshot every player in sight. User controlled killstreaks ? Yeah, great idea too, let's give a AH-64 Apache to the player, or even an AC130. Once you got this Killstreak, the nuke is nearly certain. Oh, didn't I talked about the nuke ? 25 kills, and you end the game, wonderful. And then came the maps. And they all induce to camp. Oh, and there was this great idea of a map with bushes everywhere, snipers' paradise. Well, all the multiplayer should have been redone. There was also this "customisation thing", where you earned titles and callsigns by doing challenge. Shouldn't have to mention it, but you can guess this turned into everybody putting a skull and having a pseudo like "XxSniperxX". I won't talk about the "ripoffs", ported console versions and such. That's partly because I'm lazy, partly because they aren't woth the mentioning. If you don't think so, feel free to complain. World at War is based on the Vietnam war? Um, the zombies are NAZIS. That should be a big, flashing light in your face.
Cod 5 also had tanks [editline]05:11PM[/editline] and as above posted said, it's fucking ww2
I liked Call of Duty 3, regardless compared to the rest of the series it was a fun game. People need to stop comparing every single game in a series with others in a series and make decision based on the fact it is a separate game.
World at War is based on the Vietnam war? Um, the zombies are NAZIS. That should be a big, flashing light in your face.
What the fuck did I just wrote. All my excuses, correcting that immediately. Let's say that CoD7 darkened my mind ok ? :ohdear:
Wow this thread is horrible. You don't even have all correct information.
2 was the best.
Mw2 had a game mode exactly like counter strike which was search and destroy. I honestly believe they were trying to be like tf2 with the whole switching weapons and everything.
. Call of Duty 5 : World at War Guess what ? I never ever played this game, so I won't make anything for it now. I'll see if i get the time. Anyways, it's based during the Vietnam war. But, attack dogs. And also, Zombie nazis.
:frogbon: Also this thread pretty much sucks.
There is no CoD 5, 6 or 7.
i really liked WaW's multiplayer compared to mw2's multiplayer
There is no CoD 5, 6 or 7.
Yes there is.
Why did you rate this man dumbs? he made a megathread, in all he deserves Informatives :v:
WaW was good, the multiplayer would have been nearly perfect if it wasn't for the weapon balance and those retarded dogs. Nazi Zombies was gold too. Treyarch's map packs were even worth paying for.
cod3 > mw2
You make a Call of Duty thread and didn't even play the first one. Fuck that was the best one, epic gameplay fresh and new. Just a great game not filled with shitty content. And the expansion pack was ace, multiplayer rocked so hard. Stalingrad, oh the memories.
Every picture in the op looks exactly the same as each other with better graphics as it goes along. Call of Duty is a good franchise none the less, but it does get a little old.
Wow this thread is horrible. You don't even have all correct information.
Complain all you want, this won't help. Being constructive could help this thread and improve it.
The original Call of Duty is/was the best.
Yes there is.
no there isn't the 5th game in the series is "World at War" the 6th game in the series is "Modern Warfare 2" the 7th game in the series is "Black ops"
Auto heal came in at 2, you fool.
no there isn't the 5th game in the series is "World at War" the 6th game in the series is "Modern Warfare 2" the 7th game in the series is "Black ops"
Ok, so how isn't there 7 games?
You make a Call of Duty thread and didn't even play the first one. Fuck that was the best one, epic gameplay fresh and new. Just a great game not filled with shitty content.
Auto heal came in at 2, you fool.
My bad, corrected that. [editline]07:28PM[/editline]
Ok, so how isn't there 7 games?
Mmmmh... Because I'm currently making this part ? While Cod3 & 1 were pretty much obligatory if I wanted a thread that covered the ones that were out, the 7 isn't out. [editline]07:31PM[/editline] oh
Ok, so how isn't there 7 games?
there's 7 games but there isnt a cod 5,6, or 7
Yes, you can call them 5, 6, and 7 because they're in the order of 5, 6, and 7.
I still have Call of Duty 2 for my Xbox.
The titles of the games don't include the numbers so you can't You just can't [editline]11:32AM[/editline]
I still have Call of Duty 2 for my Xbox.
I never owned it, only rented it.
Although I agree, the CoD3 one is pretty much influenced because I didn't liked it. I'll try to make something more neutral. [editline]07:32PM[/editline]
The titles of the games don't include the numbers so you can't
Poor, poor sir. There, corrected it for you.
Yes, you can call them 5, 6, and 7 because they're in the order of 5, 6, and 7.
No, you can't, the official titles do not contain any numbers. That's like saying that GTA Vice City is GTAIV.
there's 7 games but there isnt a cod 5,6, or 7
Call of Duty Call of Duty: United Offensive Call of Duty: Finest Hour Call of Duty 2 Call of Duty 2: Big Red One Call of Duty 3 Call of Duty: Roads to Victory Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Call of Duty: World at War Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Call of Duty: Black Ops There's 11, not 7.
