Ok guys so just very recently my computer went kaput so know it won't turn on or anything so for me to cure my minecraft withdrawels I have to play it on my school laptop. Thing is my school laptop has some shit on it that doesn't allow you to download shit for whatever fucked up reason so I was wondering if the Minecraft Beta in browser game downloaded anything to your computer like the thing in %appdata% bin or whatever? (probably a stupid question)
Yeah, it does install that into your appdata/roaming/.minecraft, still.
:byodood: [editline]25th February 2011[/editline] Where would I locate this folder without the 'run' thing in the menu?
C:\Users\USERNAME\appdata\Roaming\.minecraft. Although the appdata folder is hidden, so you need to show hidden folders first.
%appdata%/.minecraft you won't need to show hidden folders.
nevermind found it edit: woops I should pressed F5 before posting.
Post small questions into the megathread next time.
If you can manage to get your hands on the new Minecraft launcher the options allow you to change where it's installed, for computers with directory restrictions.
Post small questions into the megathread next time.
I just figured since it was a minecraft question I 'd post it in the shiny new minecraft thread. (P.S I figured out that my computer was POSTing because it wasn't beeping on startup)
A computer should go through POST. It's the Power On Self-Test.
A computer should go through POST. It's the Power On Self-Test.
Let me word it better: On the Power on Self Test it was not beeping and had no display on the screen which is a signal of no power, loose card, bad RAM or a short circuit. With my ancient computer I reckon one of most likely reasons was the short

One just has the parts sitting inside, not connected or anything. The other one is dustier than you can imagine, and then there's the blown power supply. I feel ya for the computer problems.
