Apparently, this game is pretty bad. I thought the demo was pretty fun. It might have a few flaws (Repetitive HERE COMES THE BOOM, no commentary, some other things) but I was thinking of buying it. It's also a nice change from Madden. What does FP think of Backbreaker?
just run into people in gta4
When did it actually come out?
I remember hearing about it a while ago and thought it was pretty cool.
would be a nice online game imo, not too keen on only being able to RUN with a ball like the itouch version >:
I was so excited about this game, then it got delayed and I lost a bit of interest, then I played the demo and lost all interest.
If the game didn't have Euphoria, it would have nothing.
Despite being English and having no clue what the hell you people do when you're playing American football, I gave the demo a shot.
It was actually pretty fun to be honest. I kind of knew the general gist of the rules, so I managed to bumble my way through and pick up a few more of the rules as I went. After I'd played a few games I was kind of enjoying it. That said, I am kind of a sucker for Euphoria and for the whole using the thumb stick to control everything style of play.
Basically, if it gets really cheap at some point, I might consider getting it.
Euphoria makes it fun, other than that it's not much of a game.
demo was fun, only got to try it real quick with my brother
I heard in previews that no 2 tackles would be alike, for you who have played the demo: Is this true? Have you seen the same tackle twice?
Played the demo, had some fun, but god dam, from reading the reviews it seems they didn't bother fixing the camera. It's so close in, its useless. It should have a similar camera to Madden's team game, where you can basically see almost everything.
It seemed like fun when i played the demo, but i just ended up blitzing a gap as an LB and then not knowing where the play was going; then hammering A to switch player and spamming the tackle button. It seemed to work. Also the passing suffers the same problem because of the camera, I know it is somewhat realistic, but there seems to be no depth, and you throw it on a wing and a prayer pretty much all the time.
It will go straight to the bargain bin and i'll pick it up when it's cheaper, I can't justify buying it now for like £35 or waiting a couple of months and buying it pre-owned or from the bins.
I would never buy it new, but I may buy it in a month when it drops down to five bucks. It was fun, i guess.
The demo was okay. Too short, but okay. Running with the ball is fun, you get to stiff arm and juke and spin with the wheels, but passing leaves something to be desired. Switching between receivers is impossible to do in the time you have before you will get sacked, for you have to use one stick to look, one stick to pick the receiver, and figure out which way to throw it... all while trying to avoid a sack.
As for the tackles, those got pretty cheap too. I would get all the way to the endzone, only to trip over someone who had fallen infront of me... Some of them were pretty similar, though I wasn't really looking that in depth.
So, yeah. I'd buy it when it gets cheap... which will probably happen in about two months after its on the market.
I like how everybody was interested in this game before GTA IV came out because it had Euphoria, but now it's really looked down upon.
I don't know about you guys but I loved it. I have been raised up around football and played it for a year in middle school before joining my lax team at high but this is as close you can get in a game. If Our quarter-back had complained he couldn't see behind him them we would call him an idiot. If you're looking for less realism play madden.
I think it's an awesome game, it's in need of a few patches here and there but it's a new perspective of football.

Sure, it's realistic; Sure, the passing in the game makes you see like a real quarterback; but if I wanted to play a game with all the frustration of real football games (i.e. getting sacked millions of times because I can't get the ball out, running and being stopped before you can get 5 yards etc.) I would have played a real football game.

The realism is good, they just need to fix the camera. It doesn't keep up with the action and you end up having to hammer A to find the nearest person to the ball. It's realistic yeah, (I play American Football, and if you lose sight of the ball you have no idea what's going on) but this is a game and it shouldn't punish you for say, blitzing as a Linebacker. I was a MLB and I kept getting Blitz defence calls, so i'd blitz, bounce of a blocker and the ball would be gone; then I had to spin around and try to find where the play went every time.
I think that camera is just too tight for a game, you literally get sacked or throw an interception 9 times out of 10, and that really isn't fun.
Like the above poster said, if I wanted frustration I'd put Madden on full difficulty, no assistance, zoom the camera right in, and play as the Lions or the Bucs versus the Pats or Colts or something.
just to let everyone know this game is pretty terrible
not having real teams isn't a total deal breaker, but without official teams it's kind of dull
the controls are pretty bad and so is the camera
interceptions are constant, and same goes for sacks
if you like Madden, you probably won't like this game
The whole point of Backbreaker was to steer away from Madden.
No canned tackles
No suction blocking
None of that Madden bullshit
Now, the game may be buggy and in need of patches, patches are confirmed by the way, it's a new perspective of football.
worst part of this game is the shitty camera
Yeah, they should give people the option to change it to an overhead or something like that camera.
