• Why are so many games more fun when they first come out?

I'm finding that I'm having a lot more fun with games when they first come out. Don't know what I mean? Listen to this: When I first got Modern Warfare 2, everybody had the same amount of skill that I did. I could play a match, and nobody would be javelin-matyrdom-ing me, care package knifing me, or double shotgunning me. I'd get a fairly normal Kill/Death ratio, and get at least one killstreak per match. Then youtube videos, guides, tips, the like started coming out. Games start to become a bit harder and annoying. Every once in while, my streak will be ended by somebody bonzai charging me with a Javelin, I'll be killed by somebody who jumped over several rooftops, then single handedly knifed my entire team, or get sniped by somebody with a shotgun in each hand. Killstreaks start to become rare, an achievement, even. Then it starts to be like this every fucking day. I find that I'm having to file several Xbox Live complaints every day, when I've never had to do so before. I'm spending more time watching killcams than I am playing the game. I'm finding that unless I use the same strategies that the people I'm fighting use, or condemn, then a killstreak above 3 is rare. But it's not just this game, it's most games. Battlefield, Left 4 Dead, Counter Strike... Why does this keep happening? No matter what, how come that there's always one person who finds a way around the normal way of doing things? Why does somebody always have to find a way to gain an advantadge above the rest, especially in a form of entertainment?
People advance, you don't.
there many reasons for this... games of this age dont have polish, making glitches easier to find, allowing for more exploits, as well as the people who play games tend to find ways to exploit the game as much as possible just to say they could or just to laugh at you. in my opinion AC2 was the greatest game ive played in a while, before that... i dont even remember, i say this because its single player and doesn't have any multiplayer where douches can just use cheap tactics. Also there are people who spend nothing but playing a game ALL DAY LONG, and say people like us have to life when they in turn are the ones who have no life, just sitting and playing a game all day long. what im getting at is that poeple are douche bags, and that they will do anything to be better/win/make you mad, so in turn i just dont play multiplayer games sometimes and stick to playing single player. or you just suck >.>
there many reasons for this... games of this age dont have polish
yeah fuckin right. as opposed to all those old games that shone like nothing you've ever seen before, right?
yeah fuckin right. as opposed to all those old games that shone like nothing you've ever seen before, right?
i knew i would get called out for this... by polish i mean, i dont mean graphics i mean everything else, mostly AI because Ai has just sucked in games recently except L4D... that is one AI expection
Bonzai charged eh? So they've been charging you like a small Japanese tree? ...
i knew i would get called out for this... by polish i mean, i dont mean graphics i mean everything else, mostly AI because Ai has just sucked in games recently
compared to what?
compared to what?
tons of games... good old games like SotC and OoT and MW1 edit; and how could i forget HL2
tons of games... good old games like SotC and OoT and MW1 edit; and how could i forget HL2
You mean the HL2 with incredibly shit AI that'd walk into danger?
tons of games... good old games like SotC and OoT and MW1 edit; and how could i forget HL2
How did MW1 have good AI It's exactly the same
How did MW1 have good AI It's exactly the same
first of all... that exactly what im saying they didn't improv anything on that front. what im saying is that games have nothing to them these days.
You mean the HL2 with incredibly shit AI that'd walk into danger?
for half life 2 the ai wasn't the great but everything else about the game was great.

People play games competitively all the time. It is human nature, we will find ways to win. Even if it's cheap bullshit or not intended. It's just the way games are man, you have to deal with bullshit. If I was you, try co-op games/modes. They typically have less of this bull.
For this reason i prefer teambased realistic fps like project reality or red orchestra. The outcome is determined by overall team performance and reaching of objectives. Yes there are guys who are great at the games mechanics, but as soon as you get at least medicore and do what's best for the team, you are more valuable than that camping lonewolf who scored more frags but never helped to capture objective or destroyed a cache.
Except when the camping lone wolf has killed single-handedly all of the defenders and then you manage to capture the place? If you didn't get it, I'm the Russian semi-auto guy in RO :saddowns:
Everything is best when new, not just games. For example, take a jug or carton of milk, whichever you buy. When you first open it and drink it, it tastes nice and creamy, leaving you satisfied. But after a long period of time, the milk eventually becomes stale and old, leaving you with something unsatisfying. After removing the stale milk, you go out and buy another jug/carton of fresh new milk for you to enjoy. DLC also (properly) works in the same way. Imagine having stale milk, which is old and unsatisfying. However, rolling back the clock on the expiration date would make it fresh and enjoying still, which is what DLC/Expansions are made for if done right.
We need a fallout 3 mmorpg. That will never be boring.
Not in the slightest on topic, but yes. I agree. Nobody really thinks the same, though.

I thought more of the guy who is running around the map and taking frags no matter that SL shouts "Take apartments first!". To add one thing, in those games you can be good "good aiming, smart movement, corner peaking, god nade aim", but (as i presume you playing 50 slot servers) statisticaly both teams get some amount of good players, some medicore players and some bad players. At the end it all comes down which team can stick together and get the job done.

I hate this. I'm always far above average when a game comes out, and I'm leading the teams, etc. Then a week later I go to play and I'm just average. I guess I learn how to play quicker, but don't advance as quick.

Worms. Never gets old.
what if you're lactose intolerant?
Then you shouldn't be buying milk.
I came in here expecting people to argue about the lowering quality of the Single-Player experience, but NO, you're bitching about the Multiplayer. Multiplayer is incredibly fun sure, but just realize that it is probably the single thing that destroyed the Halo series.

[editline]06:14PM[/editline]
Both are unsatisfying after a while.
I still enjoy playing old video-games. If it gets boring for you after a while, it's your own fault, not the game.
Couple reasons: 1. People find ways to cheat/glitch/hack. 2. People find better ways to play. 3. People find easier ways to get kills. 4. People get better at the game.
You get bored of the game Other people get better 11-year-olds convince their mums to buy the game
You wrote complaints just because someone was better than you at a video game? What, you think everyone is just going to obey to some invisible rule that you think apperantly exist in a video game? If they glitch or something, you say "Fuck them, I'll glitch too.", and just do the same things they do. Why not? It's in the game even if developers didn't intend for it to be, it's just tactics to winning. Before you say something along the lines of "Because I'm not a cheater or as bad as them", get over it, it's not like that really makes you a better person because it's just a videogame. The problem resides in that you take games too seriously.
