If you have Steam you may have noticed that It's been updated. I tried installing Smod on it and this was to path I took
C:/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/Source Mods
and I put the download in there but it didn't show up on my Games Library.
I know I'm a total noob for asking this but, do you need Half-Life 2 for Smod to work.
Hope one of you guys can help
Thanks
Seb
Yes you need half life 2 for smod to work
But it wont work anyway because valve broek all the mods with the OB update
You do need Half-Life 2.
And that path is also slightly incorrect if you already have it: It should be "SourceMods" as one word, not "Source Mods".
You don't strictly need Half-Life 2; CSS SCI-FI, for example, uses the Source SDK Base and Counter-Strike: Source instead. You can use the Base by swapping out "220" in your gameinfo.txt to "215". This is how the major SMOD variants are now patched to work with the OB update, using a tweaked mount script and some other small edits.
If you don't have CS:S or HL2, though, you won't have a lot to do unless you make your own mapadd scripts, where experience with Hammer is helpful.
Don't bother installing it. The recent update to the engine for Half-Life 2 and Episode 1 render them all unstable.
Pretty much only mods made for Episode 2 work, now.

I just want to point out there are 4 mods that have actually been released for EP2, while 55 still remain TBD, or dead.

I know. Probably the only decent one is Research and Development, but I haven't seen any of the others.
There is a patch for smod that fixed the broken stuff since the engine update, I think its all of it IIRC.
