Candyland.
Sorry, like I said, its not themed.
But I like the idea still.

Its more of ideas on how things should be designed.
Now it is themed. Steampunk.
For doors and chests, make them seem old and dececrit for ruins and stuff.
Grass like lucid pack, moderately coloured wood planks and wooden objects. Don't make things too overly ornate, Minecraft should have a simple look. Do a little work and we can make recommendations on that.
Make it Clean and simple, also make it that it will go GREAT with better light (It's now included)
AND DON'T I REPEAT DON'T make it Overly complicated, take a look at the lucid pack, thats a great example.
Thanks everyone for responding, I will post some examples soon!
Doing a straight up rehash of the stock game will not bode well if you're aiming to impress people. Everyone and their grandmother has done it. While you don't need a theme, a good flair will go a long way.
Giving the game an aged, weathered look isn't too uncommon; but you have more ground to prove yourself. You could also go with a more clean-cut, machined look or a faux-world.
Hell, actually, an artificial world could be very interesting. While it doesn't have to be a theme "ala Candyland or Doom", you could take inspiration from Eversion's 'evert' 2 or 3.

Just mute the weird guy talking.
What I mean by that, is giving everything that fake-real look, like you were at an amusement park or the sort. Give the organic textures (grass, dirt, leaves, trees) a more 'built' look while rocks and ores look constructed. Sadly, I don't know of a way to make the clouds hang on trees, or the sky green. :v:
Actually, now that you mention this: an industrial/steampunk style would be really cool.

Considering this:
Steampunk TNT
How should I do this?

Tnt with a lot of pipes and valves and gauges
TNT should be a crate filled with gunpowder/TNT sticks.

That seems far too busy to me, but I prefer simpler designs. It does tile pretty well, though!
Yes, I do agree, but I love the sideways bricks thrown in there.
Also TNT is here!

I incorporated the pipes and gauges with the crate of TNT as mentioned by supersnail11 and latin_geek.
Thanks for the input.
Trinitrotoluene. Had to throw that in there.

Next, the jukebox! Get those ideas flowing!

For the sandstone, I went for an Egyptian theme for two main reasons:
1. There isn't much sand to work with in steampunk
2. I really wanted it to have heiroglyphs.
I think, even though it's steampunk, the Egyptian sandstone works well with the overall feel.
Sandstone:

Sandstone Enlarged:

(The heiroglyphs are real. They spell words if you can figure out which symbols they are. All those damn bird ones are hard to make different at 5px high.)

It's quarter to 1 AM here, and I'm really frigging tired.
I'll continue working in the morning.
