Nintendos GDC Keynote... notes! - Games

Nintendo had a relatively small keynote with some noteworthy mentions pertaining to Zelda/Mario/3DS in general, figured it would make for some interesting discussion All screenshots obviously lifted from Joystiq. I am loving the art direction of the new Zelda.

Skyward sword seems to be the only good game coming out for wii this year, and you need a fucking wii motion plus for it.

Just noticed (somehow) that mario is tiny as hell in one of those screenshots, wonder if that means no more lifebar or timelimit fire flower? I'm excited for that

I'm getting a 3DS just because of that Mario game.

Meh. Not very impressed by any of this. 3DS is still way overpriced. They need to drop the price a lot before I will consider it.

I don't care if they're cheap to produce or not. I'm just not going to spend more on a handheld than I did on my console. EDIT: LOL @ getting rated dumb. Wait and see, the 3DS is going to be way less popular then the DS because of the price.

Nintendo's motion control fixation is well past it's peak, and it always seemed to be put in as an afterthought in their major franchises, which they seem to be very focused on these days. The DS has been more successful at functioning as both a standard handheld and a gimmicky one than the Wii, which will always be known as "that console that uses remotes." Nintendo seems ready to move on, TBH.

even if the new zelda game requires the motion plus they only cost 20$ it really isnt that big of a deal.

I would pay extra for a standard (read pre-wii) control scheme for zelda. Definitely going to buy the 3ds this year, a new super mario, a new paper mario and ocarina of time ( and probably Majora's mask later) is just too good to pass on.

Wow, the games on the 3DS are very visually pleasing.

It's nintendo, the majority of stuff they do is relatively nice, Sure there are some flops, but what company has a flop free history?

Gah looks like the 3DS is the way to go for good Nintendo games this year. But I'm really looking forward to Skyward Sword. But oh my god a new 3D mario bros game that's not galaxy, I need a 3DS now. And Paper Mario. omg.
