The game has a post-apocalyptic setting in the mid-22nd century, though its story and artwork are heavily influenced by the post-World War II nuclear paranoia of the 1950s. The game is sometimes considered to be an unofficial sequel to Wasteland,[3] but it could not use that title as Electronic Arts held the rights to it; and, except for minor references, the games are set in separate universes. It was also intended to use Steve Jackson Games' GURPS system, but that deal fell through due to the excessive amounts of violence and gore included in the game,[4] forcing Black Isle to change the already implemented GURPS system to the internally developed SPECIAL system. Critically acclaimed, the game inspired a number of sequels and spin-off games, known collectively as the Fallout series. Gameplay in Fallout consists of traveling around the game world, visiting locations and interacting with the local inhabitants, and is typically in real-time. Occasionally, inhabitants will be immersed in dilemmas which the player may choose to solve in order to acquire karma and experience points. Alternately, the player may choose to ignore requests for help, in which case he or she has the option of acting on behalf of an opposing faction, or purely in self-interest. Experience points may still be rewarded if the player acts for an opposing interest or in self-interest. Ultimately, players will encounter hostile opponents (if such encounters are not avoided using stealth or diplomacy), in which case they and the player will engage in combat. does anyone know how to run this windowed??? hella thanks for whoever can help :butt: post you're characters you've made and stuff! :w00t:
Are you sure that it's freeware? i bought it on steam some time ago.
Fallout is definitely not freeware, if you did get it for free then your copy isn't legal, Fallout is sold by many online retailers
Yeah, it's 10 dollars on Steam. Something tells me there's something not quite legit/legal about that download link.
It's most certainly not freeware, it's for sale in a ton of places. Great game, though, definitely worth buying.
Fallout has a multiplayer mod.
I prefer Fallout 3, but fallout 1 and 2 are the best isometric games out there.
I prefer Fallout 3, but fallout 1 and 2 are the best isometric games out there.
Compared to Fallout 3, Fallout 1 and 2 where (in my opinion) way better. They were more open with more choices, a better leveling system/skills, and much more things to do or fight than in Fallout 3.
I have a question: How do you wait in fallout?
It's most certainly not freeware, it's for sale in a ton of places. Great game, though, definitely worth buying.
oh. well i googled it and there's a bunch of other forums with people hosting the game saying it's free. hard to beleive they're still selling this game, other companies have already given their games away for free (ie. Westwood or whoever owns the old C&C series, etc).
There's nothing freeware about this
I prefer Fallout 3, but fallout 1 and 2 are the best isometric games out there.
It depends. While Fo1 and 2 are indeed in the top tier, I'd say PS:T takes the cake there. Though that doesn't change the fact that they are still the best two fallouts out there, followed by tactics, then fo3 and lastly the unmentionable brotherhood.
Definitely not freeware. Hell, Walmart (among other places) sells a pack containing Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics. Good stuff.

Fallout's a good game. You can (attempt) to run it windowed by altering the .cfg file.
I got it on GoG for like 5 bux. Steam ain't that good with old games!
GoG also modify all their games to be compatible with W7 and Vista so if the game is on GoG and on Steam, always buy from GoG, it works like steam how your games are stored in a permanent library, steam doesn't offer that compatibility modification
You haven't played Fallout? Give me your gamer's licence. Hand it over. You lose it. Also, pay for it assholes. It's good, you won't feel bad. PLus, you can get it in a pack with tactics for 20 bucks, and Fallout 2.
