Hello guys, I've been playing some Vietcong 2 and I really got into the Vietnamwar. Do you have any suggestions about such games? My brother used to play some game a time ago but I can't remember the name, Man of Valor perhaps?
Men of Valor.
Battlefield Vietnam.
Conflict:Vietnam
Decent
Vietcong and BF:V are all you need.
Shellshock, but that's meh.

This.
Don't bother with Vietcong: Fist Alpha.
Battlefield vietnam is all I would play if I had to choose one veitnam game
Shellshock: Nam '67 was fun in my opinion. I liked earning those damn chits and buying all the drugs and hookers.
And the Death Machine. Holy fuck nuts.
I'm still waiting for the developers of the "Call of Duty" series to make a game based on Vietnam.
I'm actually hoping Treyarch does the next CoD and base it in 'nam. It seems that their gaming style would make it better than IW would, seeing that it was essentially little yellow guys hiding in the brush with shitty WWII weaponry (later came the '47's and such. But the beginning of the war was all bolt-action and obsolete semi-auto's) ambushing a few patrols of heavily armed Americans.
Could be interesting.
Vietnam: Go out on a million boring jungle patrols and one of them you'll either step on a punji stick or encounter an enemy you don't know where they're shooting from. Not good linear game material until the arrival of the NVA and then developers can play around with the big battles like Tet and Ia Drang.
Yeah, it would probably be placed around Saigon, Hue, Da Nang, La Drang, Khe San, Mekong Delta, ect.
You could actually do a lot with 'nam. Boat patrols, rescue downed airmen, helicopter door gunner, sniper ops, ambushes that go horribly wrong, the options are endless. I mean, in WWII the island conflicts in the jungles were pretty much the same. Treyarch did a good job with that.
As I've posted before, these are the ONLY decent Vietnam games/mods:
Vietcong
Vietcong 2
Battlefield Vietnam
Vietnam the experience (Operation Flashpoint mod)
Vietnam the experience (ArmA/ArmA2)
Unsung mod (ArmA/ArmA 2)
SEAL team (little know but excellent DOS game that was quite possibly the first realistic squad/tactical shooter)
If done correctly, 'Nam has more potential than any other war setting. However, getting it "done correctly" is something that it seems most developers just can't wrap their heads around.
Personally, The Vietnam mods for OFP/ArmA are the best I have come across, as ArmA's flexible mission editor allows for players to create some really indepth and solid missions.

Good times
Going VC on Ia Drang, grabbed the portable spawn tunnel, walking across the entire map and setting it up behind the American Hanger. Then when 3-4 people spawned and stole all the choppers, the rape commenced.

I recreated the Flight of the Valkyries scene from Apocalypse Now once in VTE :D
The best thing about OFP VTE if I remember right was the PACV.
Purple Haze
Pretty much all of them suck or are mediocre at best.
I want Battlefield: Vietnam 2, imagine BFV on the frostbite engine.

Was the shit when it was popular. I was so excited to fly helicopters in a battlefield game.
