Apparently this is being developed by students of a game design academy called "DigiPen Institute of Technology", and is scheduled for a release in fall 2012. Click here to go to the game's homepage at digipen.edu I don't have any more info, and if you want a better explanation than what the title says, you'd best watch the trailer. So without further ado:
That's really wicked.
Reminds me of Ortho Robot :v:
At first it seemed really simple, then it started fucking my face holes with craziness. Can't wait.
holy shit I want this
Wow. That totally blew my mind. I definitely want to at least try this game.
That's genius. Digipen students to some really cool stuff sometimes, like this and Nitronic Rush
I've seen something like this before. Some PS3 exclusive.
This must be a programming nightmare.
I've seen something like this before. Some PS3 exclusive.
Echochrome.
I remember seeing a picture of this on RPS but I was confused as hell :v: definitely would love to play it
0:18 fuck you, game.
The character's jump animation looks familiar.
All I could think while watching was that the little character's animations were almost exectly the same as Megaman's.
My brain is doing everything it can to tell me that this isn't possible. Fucking awesome.
Oh wow, that is a great concept.
This must be a programming nightmare.
Level designing, too.
I'm going to buy this. I'll probably play it for about an hour before ragequitting and never touching it again, but I'll still buy it.
That's pretty damn cool. Given that it's a project by students, it shouldn't be surprising for things to be unique and original, since they're essentially like indie devs in training; they aren't being restrained by a money-minded publisher who wants something safe and guaranteed to sell even if it smacks of generic. Give some people freedom and they'll give you something creative and unique; not always great but nonetheless it's something different. The thought of 2D platforming in an adjustable 3D space sounds awesome, and this game seems to be doing it right; the concept reminds me of Fez even though that was limited to 4 directions, whilst this game is limited only by the player's perspective.
The character's jump animation looks familiar.
Megaman 1 ~ 6
This makes perfect sense to me The puzzles and programming aspects are relatively simple
my mind is broken someone give me duct tape
DigiPen wins again
That's so genius.
Played this when it was in alpha, shit hurt my brain. Gets especially aggravating when they mix the ceiling into things. :v:
Digipen? I await the day Valve picks this up
Man, this is fucking amazing. Reminds me of how I played with my action figures when I was little. I have got to play this.
I was trying to figure how hard it would be to program this, but I don't think it'd be too bad: I think what they did is you allow a 3d perspective to change, then the user 'locks' it into place, it saves the screen into a 2d image then makes a platformer out of that 2d image. The character moves in that 2d space, goes into 3d, rinse repeat. Ideas?
