• Gamespy - How the heck is it still alive?

Gamespy is hardly used, and its outdated. People use Steam, Xbox Live, XFire, Playstation Network, Desura and things like that. Last time I remember Gamespy was in 2002 when Elite Force 2 came out. That 9 years ago. It's old. Why is it still around!?!?
Borderlands
New games still use it when the developers are too cheap to use something that isn't shit. Crysis and Crysis: Warhead used it
medal of honor: allied assault good times
I remember using Gamespy Arcade. Used to go on and mess around on the Halo demo servers and Unreal Tournament. Truly good times.
went on to play chaos theory yesterday don't remember any of my info and cannot retrieve it, so i can't play it :(
First went on GameSpy to play Command & Conquer: Renegade. Oh, those were the days..
The only games I've used Gamespy for in the past year or so were Crysis and Crysis Wars. I wonder why Crytek is so cheap sometimes, and then the Crysis 2 Demo issue...
I still use Gamespy Arcade to play Giants: Citizen Kabuto and AVP:Gold online. :unsmith:
I remember every game asking if you wanted to install the gamespy arcade
I wonder why Punkbuster is still around too. If Battlefield 3 has it I'll be pissed.
Maybe Gamespy is paying developers to use it?
Maybe Gamespy is paying developers to use it?
Wouldn't that be a bit counter productive?
what is this gamespy you speak of?
Wouldn't that be a bit counter productive?
But its also counter productive to use in a modern game.
It hosts a lot of servers for games. Like Crysis 2 or Borderlands.
Gamespy's been around since Quake 2 and the original Operation Flashpoint. Man, I still remember trying to play on their shitty 'Gamespy Arcade' thing, it never worked right.
I used it in Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear
men of war/assault squad and it sucks dicks
Oh my god I remember using Gamespy during the turn of the century. That was back when I was still a pre-teen!
I'm always having a hard time joining a game that uses Gamepsy....and it's always lagging like shit. Gamespy sucks. Same thing for Punkbuster, kicking more normal players off games than hackers and cheaters.
GameSpy is still going because it's a part of IGN, owned by News Corp. I think that's all I need to say.
I think Nintendo uses Gamespy how the fuck is anyone disagreeing with me? http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/13/nintendo-teams-up-with-gamespy-again-for-multiplayer-wii/
I remember using gamespy for cs 1.4 /1.5 good times
Borderlands
The only reason that uses Gamespy is because Gearbox's spokesperson hates Steam.
Starwars battlefront
what is this gamespy you speak of?
Are you like 10?
Oh the memories. It would install even if you would check DO NOT INSTALL. I never used it except for Borderlands.
I used it back in the days of Starsiege Tribes, Rainbow Six and Operation Flashpoint. I fucking hated it and I still do to this day, this is directed towards EA Stop dicking around with your shitty download manager, no one uses it, there's a reason why no one bought Battlefield 1943 on the PC and your shitty digital distribution client, also it may have something to do that it released nearly 2 years after it released on consoles. Stop being so goddamn stubborn about not using other platforms, especially the Steam digital distribution platform, stop using it to get sales months/years after the game has released as a shitty attempt to make money, use the Steamworks suite for achievements, the cloud and VAC is even included(FOR FREE). Thank you, I'm sure the entire PC community vouches for what I'm saying here.
I remember using Gamespy to play Halo on the original 360 over the internet before Xbox Live came around. Those were good times. :smith:
