Hi,
I'm comtemplating the idea of buying a ps3 or xbox360
I would like to know what you think... which should i get, but before i go into detail, some thread rules:

[b]YOU MUST GIVE AT LEAST ONE VALID REASON WITH YOUR OPINION[/b]
and please no bull-crap about having pay for LIVE, i KNOW!!
Now back to what I was saying.
my currents factors for getting one or the other
ps3:
-have friends on it...
-can set up wlan networks with it without needing more accesories
Xbox:
-also have friends with it
-already have a GFWL gamertag
-a bit of a halo fan...
please add your opinion and keep this as civilised as possible... just keep to the 2 main rules I put down...

As a console I personally enjoy the PS3 more, it feels more free (you don't have to buy MS' overpriced crap they call HDDs) and less casual (no damn Mii-wannabes). As for the games I don't know, I guess that the 360 has more good games, but it seems that in 2010 it will invert.

and i should say i'm leaning more toward the 360 ATM... I just really enjoy halo3 and gow, and i find the controller better
PS3. You'll get more in the long run. Also, Gears is on the PC.

I'll have to have a look at titles easily accesible in ireland...
I really liked the selection of games on the 360 over the PS3, but that's just my personal preference. Voted 360.

There are more games that I personally like on the 360, and I personally think that Microsoft will last longer than Sony.

the irish thingy is .ie, and we use .co.uk for amazon... it's just the game is probably a bit dead due to the fact that it can't be found on the shelves anymore...
Also, one reason to not get a 360. RROD is still a big problem.

My friend has had one for 3 years and not a thing has happened to it yet. He may be lucky, but I know other people that haven't had it happen to them either.

If you get the old models yes, the new ones, Elite and such are fixed iirc.

Sony is one of the biggest electronics manaufacturers. Microsoft and Sony aren't going anywhere. Nintendo would go before them.
Voted 360. I just prefer the controller, it feels more weighty than the PS3, which feels like....nothingness.

It still remain mah boy. My 360 I got back in August RROD'd. I hardly played it. The failure rate from a few months ago is over %50, so I wouldn't bet on a drastic reduction.
I like more PS3 games than Xbox games
Well, I only got a 360 (Only because there was a sale going on and It cost about 200$ less than a PS3), but I have never ever experienced any RROD or technical difficulties with it.
I'd say you should look up the exclusives and the price differenses in the stores at your area. And about the community, I find neither the PS3 nor the Xbox community much "better" than the other, but I haven't played all that much online with either.

Yes Live is better, but that's because you pay for it.
In the long run the PS3 is a lot cheaper thanks to multiplayer access being free.
I did say in my orginal post that I don't mind the pay-for live system
You should look up the info and choose for yourself, if you really like GoW2, Forza 3 and Halo3, Alan Wake( PC also but Third person so better on console probably), get the 360,
if you like games like Killzone 2, Uncharted, Heavy rain, Valkyria Chronicles, Demon's Souls, The Agent, Yakuza 3, Gran Turismo 5, god of War 3 and so on, get a PS3.

Also, the controller is subjective, When I owned the 360 I got really used to the controller, when I switched to PS3, I hated the controller for around 2 days, then I realised how much more I freaking love it.

ODST was really good. And I recently rented Gears 2, Gears 2 > Gears.
Xbox 360
Pros: Less expensive, Xbox live is superior in many ways
Cons: Costs for internet, RRoD, controllers bulkier,
PS3
Pros: Blu-tooth, free internet, WiFi, controller is easier to control, blu-ray, backwards compatiblity (For some models), slightly better graphics (Not by far but slightly),
Cons: Less of a community, more expensive,
I'm not going to add exclusives personally, because it's all opinion. Yes I do feel Uncharted, killzone 2, and MGS4 beat halo and gears of war, but it's just my opinion.
I'd also like to add that myself and two other friends have both consoles, and we all prefer the ps3 over the xbox. Not that this matters much, though it should show you that i'm sorta unbiased.
Depends on if you have small hands, what games you want, and what your friends have.
I bought a PS3 a couple of days ago and its great.
I bought It for MGS4, GT5 and Heavy Rain
