New Vegas looks like a mod for Fallout 3.
New Vegas looks like a mod for Fallout 3.
Yea Fallout 3 could have been a mod for Oblivion you know. Just like HL2:E1 is a "mod" of HL2
No seriously, Falout New Vegas is exactly the same as Fallout 3. It could easily be a mod. And probably is. Doesn't mean it is bad
If it is just a massive Fallout 3 mod im still gonna play the crap out of it, love this series

Despite the fact that skills, perks, and special have been re-tooled, yeah, it is going to be just like Fallout 3. Not to mention the fact that karma is being re-tooled and Reputation is being added back in. That's just like FO3. Not to mention all the new guns that can be modified with different customizations and different ammunition types. It is going to be just like Fallout 3.

Which is a good thing in my opinion.
It looks, plays, sounds and feels like Fallout 3 exactly. It's barely different. Karma, skills and perks, and weapons being re-tooled doesn't make the game different.

I agree! I mean, when you look at it, if you take Schindler's List, change all the characters and the setting, as well as the plot, it might as well be Big Momma's House.

Fallout 3 is about the Story, quests, characters and the world you explore. Not graphics, skills and guns.

Looks, and sounds are because they need placeholders until new models/sounds and everything else is remodeled/remade/re-textured for the new game.

New Vegas is a destroyed civilization and save the strip, the rest of it could go anywhere in the Capital Wasteland and you wouldn't know it was from New Vegas.
And plot or characters shouldn't come before gameplay in a video game.

Nope. The game has gone gold (meaning it is finished and development is done) so nothing will change

Where is your source on that? Because I'm pretty sure we would have gotten more than a couple of screenshots and a seconds-long teaser for it if it had gone gold. And yes, one patch of destroyed wasteland is just like another, except you will find green living cacti around Vegas, the Strip will be almost completely intact and lit up. I remember all he parts of DC with neon flashing lights and the sound of slot machines.
As for gameplay, I do indeed remember all the times in FO3 when I modified my weapons to add extended magazines and modified my ammo to make it more useful to my tactics. And when I aimed down the sights of my guns.
So, you're trying to say ammo and sights are the ultimate defining change in New Vegas? You're also saying New Vegas and Fallout 3 are as different as Schindler's List and Big Momma?
I think you're just trying to lie to yourself that New Vegas is extremely different from Fallout 3.
This is the same as Fallout 3 if Fallout 2 is the same as Fallout 1. It has exactly the same graphics but the content is completely/mostly different.
I don't tend to get excited about trailers though, what's the point? :v:

In all honesty, while I don't think that they are polar opposites, I think that New Vegas will provide a substantially different experience from Fallout 3, at least in small ways. And why would I lie to myself about their being similar? I love Fallout 3, it's great fun and I keep coming back to it for more, all I'm saying is that before you simply say that it could be some little mod to Fallout 3, I suggest you actually look at what kind of gameplay changes have been made. Remeber that whole SPECIAL system that was used? There is a whole new skill from Fallout 3, and two others have been merged. Not to mention, SPECIAL will matter more, as in guns having strength requirements. So you will actually have to make decisions about your character and those around you, and those decisions will have more impact. I think you're looking at this from the FPS part of Fallout 3, which was awful.

Except Fallout 2 was basically Fallout 1 with a different (better) story with improved graphics, gameplay, and basically improved everything.
I've been laughing at this whole page. Most entries in series during a single generation recycle their engines, mechanics and visuals. It may sound insane, but the Fallout series probably won't receive a complete overhaul until its next-gen debut.
When will they get a new engine? I am so sick of seeing characters slide to their destination.
Why are you complaining about New Vegas not having a new engine? I'm sure you all loved and still love Fallout 3, I think it's great that the game will still feel the same as it's predecessor.

I did enjoy the other games, but Fallout 3 was lacking in the tech department. It really didn't look all that great graphically, the ending was disappointing, and the voice overs were kind of bad. Don't get me wrong, it was fun to play, but it could have been much better.
