• Redstone Expansion (Mod thoughts)

In thought brought on by the 'Should Minecraft have Electricity' thread, I've thought, well, it'd be nice if there was more Redstone stuff. If you have any ideas, please feel free to post them. Go right ahead. New features that would be required: - Fluids would need to be able to flow through certain blocks, with an option to render the fluid or not. Redstone Piping
III --. RRR ---> 4x Redstone Piping III --'
I = Iron, R = Redstone Dust Redstone piping works exactly like normal redstone, except it can be placed across walls and ceilings, and water can flow over it without destroying it. They also emit no particles or other indication that they're powered. Triggered Lights - Output
-G- -G- --. GTG OR GTG ---> 1x Iron/Gold Lantern III AAA --'
I = Iron, G = Glass, T = Redstone Torch, A = Gold (Au, if you're wondering why A) Lanterns work much like torches, but can be placed on ceilings as well. Lanterns can also be right-clicked to be turned on or off, or if they receive redstone current their state will switch on, then switch off when the current stops. In this way they are both triggered lights and normal lights. Iron lanterns emit the same level of light as a torch, Gold lanterns emit two more levels of light (due to gold being more reflective or somesuch). Fluid Triggers - Input
--- --. -B- ---> 1x Fluid Trigger -P- --'
B = Bucket, P = Pressure Pad (wooden or stone) Fluid triggers switch on when any fluid flows over them, and switch off a few seconds after the flow ceases (~2 seconds for water, ~10 seconds for lava - lava destroys triggers made with wooden pads). Placeable on walls or floors. Light Sensors - Input
-R- --. RGR ---> 1x Light Sensor -R- --'
R = Redstone Dust, G = Glowstone Dust Light sensors emit a current when a level of light above 40% falls on them. (Attach a lantern to an inverted light sensor with some delayers). They can be placed on walls or floors, not ceilings. Trapdoors - Output
--- --. MMM ---> 1x Iron/Wooden Trapdoor I-I --'
I = Iron, M = Smoothstone/Iron Bar/Gold Bar/Wood Planks Trapdoors work much like normal doors - they toggle based on redstone currents fed to them, and wooden ones can be opened/closed by hand. However trapdoors are placed on the floor, are flush with the top of the block they're placed against (and open down against it, break when that block is broken, etc). The look of the trapdoor is the same on top as the type of block used to make it. Obviously not all materials can be used. On the bottom, they look the same, but with two small iron protrusions arcing from the lower surface to the wall of their 'parent' block. The trapdoors are about twice the thickness of a ladder, when open, and the equivalent when closed.
I really like all of those, redstone needs a way to be placed on walls. I also think we need a redstone megathread and someone good with redstone should make it. For these ideas were you planning on making a mod for them or suggesting them to someone who makes mods because I would really like to see these in game.
The trapdoor, light sensor and torch already exist. Search on google
that redstone pipe is awfully expensive,that as much a minecart track, and that makes 16
that redstone pipe is awfully expensive,that as much a minecart track, and that makes 16
I don't personally think it should make 16, for minecart tracks either, since iron isn't exactly rare once you get going. The main issue is that we don't want it to just be a huge extension of your redstone supply, a minor once is just enough and that's mainly because things made in counts that don't divide evenly into 64 annoy me
I really like all of those, redstone needs a way to be placed on walls.
