In fact, when anyone dies in a Metal Gear game, it's so over the top funny it's sad.
Damn it Eli's death was NOT sad or shocking in the slightest, they pretty much gave the ending away when he does the whole "Thanks for everything Gordon you're a real American hero" a few minutes beforehand.
I cried more about eli with Alyx's vocal emotion. If it was just Eli, Dog, and myself in there, I honestly wouldn't have cared.
