Real ID - Games - Facepunch Forum

What are your guys's thoughts on Real ID? I've noticed that on the American forums a lot of chaps are complaining because of the usage of your real name and such but honestly I really think it's going to enhance the game for me. I play on two different realms Alliance Tichondrius and Blackrock Horde so this is going to be a great way for me to connect my characters from both realms together. I do hope however Blizzard adds the ability for user names only and implements a guild/clan feature that includes a calendar similar to the one inside of World Of Warcraft.

It's a fantastic idea and I don't see why people are bitching so much, if you're going to give someone your email address (and therefor Real ID) then you surely trust them enough to know your real name. v:v:v

I just don't like the fact that their friends can see who I am in real life. (unless they changed that and I didn't notice)

it's just a name, what are they gunna do, rape your name? steal your name? mug your name? people today are far to scared. heck, I used my real name on this forum, and my profile links to my facebook.

^^ Agree with this man, I use my real name on a couple of my different things...heck my guild even goes by a first name basis for some of us. (Because Jordan is easier to say then Aquaalpha.)

Look at it this way, a complete and total stranger can see your name, or someone you actually share a common interest in can see your name. Even then, it's limited to friend of friend. Not that I really care. Agreeing with Jethro here about the whole name thing, it's not a big deal.

I mean, heaps of people have facebook and you can easily access their name, just because your name is going to be "shown" on wow doesn't mean anything will happen to you.
