Little Big Planet - infinitely protruding materials

I've seen a level where the floor the player is running on appears to go on forever towards the screen. It was a floor made of a normal wood material, and did not appear to be part of the 'backdrop'. Is this a feature included in a creator pack, or was it simply a glitch?
