Zombie Masters Fun for a bit
Out of the mods I've downloaded, I'd recommend:
[B]Zombie Panic! Source[/B]: A zombie survival game with 4 game modes, survival, hardcore, objectives and a king of the hill style game. Players start out as a survivor and fight to survive against the carrier. When someone dies they become a zombie and have to help the carrier kill off the survivors to win. Its a fun game if you don't mind the bad community.
[B]Synergy[/B]: Synergy is a multiplayer version of half-life 2. You can play through HL2, EP1, EP2 and even some mods such as Riot Act and Mininerva. There is also a Synergy campaign, trial maps and puzzle maps. It is a very fun game that you can play for hours with friends without getting bored.
[B]NEOTOKYO[/B]: NEOTOKYO is a tactical stealth shooter where 2 teams have to capture the ghost and bring it to the enemy spawn, or wipe out the enemy team to win. You start out with a few weapons to choose from and as you kill and win you gain exp to unlock more weapons for that match. There are also 3 classes with their own gear to help out the team. This once popular game has unfortunately lost its players, but you can occassionly catch a large game of around 15 people.
[B]Modular Combat[/B]: Modular combat is a HL2: DM style game with a twist. You have to kill monsters and players to gain EXP to increase your combat modules, which include defense, damage and hp increases, minion summoning and even missle modules such as acid spit and energy orbs. A very fun game if you can find some people to play with.
[B]Situation Outbreak[/B]: Situation outbreak is a zombie survival game. There are 2 game modes, infection and survival. In infection one player becomes infected while the survivors have to run to find the gun shop. When a player gets hit they become infected and turn into a zombie. Zombies win when they turn everyone into zombies.
[B]Fortress Forever[/B]: Fortress Forever is a Team Fortress style game that aims to recreate TFC while adding elements from TF2. It is a very fun game when there are lots of players on.
[B]Golden Eye: Source[/B]: Golden Eye: Source is a recreation of the N64 classic Golden Eye. Bring back the fond memories as you play online through new and old maps. There is also a variety of Steam Achievements to achieve!
[B]Eternal Silence[/B]: Eternal Silence is a futuristic space shoooter where 2 teams start out on their ship and fly out on space fighters to take out the enemies corvettes, to bring down the shields and capture their ship. The game offers 3 classes with multiple weapons for each one and about 5 different types of ships for each task. This too is a fun game even with a small amount of players.
[B]Shotgun Sunrise[/B]: Shotgun Sunrise is a western shooter where players take the place of cowboys in a zombie apocolypse. Half the players are rescuers and the rest are survivors. The rescuers drive into town in their truck to rescue the survivors, get better guns, get some booze, repair the truck and escape. This very fun mod is need of a coder so progress is slow, and there is currently one map and one server running, but the team stays confident that the fanbase will help bring this mod into full swing.
[B]Pirates, Vikings and Knights[/B]: Players choose to be either a pirate, a viking or a knight and fight against the other teams in deathmatch and capture the chest game modes. Each team has their own weapons which are some what individual from eachother. All classes have melee and long range weapons such as the vikings throwing axe, the knights long bow and the pirates pistol.
[B]Flesh[/B]: Flesh is a singleplayer horror puzzle game, where you don't fight, you sneak past creatures to find out whats going on in the Blair Mansion. The game has some points which create a very scary atmospheres where things jump out or chase you. I haven't finished it yet but it is a very cool game.
Age of Chivalry is an excellent, original twists on FPS style games. It's a fighting game in first person, which is very interesting.

-If you like to see games in a modern perspective, not good for you
-Like all mods, community sucks.
I also recommend Synergy if you are a fan of HL2, or just like the coop genre.

-Able to play HL2 campaign with friends.
-Good coop integration. (adding buses for transport)
-Fun coop maps.

-Community
-Bad loading layout.
Zombie Master is also a nice twist on FPS games. It's good for a short time period, or even longer if you are into the RTS genre.

He said good mods. NT has the worst balancing out of any mod ever, and one way CTF with random flag location?

Situation Outbreak. It's like Zombie Master, except with more guns, no zombie master, a buy system and some cool modes. Infection, like someone said above, is where a player turns into a zombie and tries to turn the survivors into zombies. Then there's extermination, which only has one map. It's basically like Counter Strike, but with better guns and military vs. survivors.

I can't recommend this enough.
I remember there was some modern-type mod with 2 teams and you played on small, linear maps and it was like some sort of "arena" thing or something. I dunno..

I don't know if anyone still plays it, but it was an amazing mod. It was an FPS/RTS mix, one person could go commander and control the team, place buildings to be built etc. There were jeeps, tanks, and APCs. And the controls were pretty good. There were like 3 or 4 different classes I think with different "perks" you could unlock as the match progressed and you gained points.
One of the best mods I played for HL2.

One person plays as the Hidden, who has a knife and pipe bombs, but is also mostly invisible and he can move fast and jump far.
Everyone else plays as IRIS, and there are a few different guns and attachments. A really fun mod that people still play.

And there's Fistful of Frags.
It's a fun old western mod, there are quite a few guns, it almost reminds me of Firearms. You can earn money as you complete objectives and kill people and then buy more guns and other stuff. Really fun, I would suggest you give it a try.
