• Installing IL:2 Sturmovik on Windows Vista

Hello FP, now I wouldn't normally bother you guys, but I have spent at least 3 and a half hours trying to install it, I searched using Google extensively, and none of the pages helped one bit. When I run any of the .exe files the installer opens and then displays this message: "This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package. D:\IL-2 Sturmovik1946.msi" I've tried running as administrator, creating a new Admin account, UAC is disabled, I disabled all my security services, tried XP Compatibility mode... Nothing. Here's a screen shot of the error. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Is it the retail version or Steam version? I have no problems with the steam version.
He has a retail version. I have windows vista and it worked fine with the steam version i got. But no idea what this is. I'll look a bit into it inbefore anybody else helps you already. I found something not sure if this will work thought since i do not have this problem : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=5a58b56f-60b6-4412-95b9-54d056d6f9f4 If this doesent work i'll have another possible solution. Vista cant read the MSI file or thinks its corrupt/damaged in this case update it with the link i gave you and restart your pc and hopefully it should fix it. I had the same problem with some other program even thought it wasent a game and this fixed it.
Do you have the expansion packs? They might increase compatability. NVM yes you so. Try going and posting on mission4today.com, they will help a lot more.

If it doesn't, I'll have your testicles. Edit: HA! GOTCHA! Epic. All I had to do was go into the "Compatabillity settings for all users" and check a box. How stupid. Thanks guys.
