Stranded II is a first person island survival game created by Unreal Software. The game is about a male character with a British accent who has been washed up on an island after a boat accident, To survive he must create shelter, find water, find and cook food and avoid the islands wild life who would like to cause him harm. Stranded II uses an odd type of creation system, to for example a hammer, you select a branch and a rock in your inventory and press the "Combine" button, giving you a list of objects you can create using those two items while this is simple for a hammer, you have no hint towards lots of later on objects and some may take as many as 4 different things to create! Adventure Mode First up is a cutscene showing how you ended up on the island. You get a diary entry the moment you get to the island talking about you being stuck there, pressing V at any time brings up the diary. Your diary is a handy tool, every time you come across something new it will come up and talk about it, giving you hints on how to use the new thing to survive. So now we're on a beach, you're surrounded by remains of your ship, floating barrels, crates and logs. Lets begin by walking up to a crate or barrel and pressing the left mouse button, this will attack it with your hands, after a while it will break leaving an item behind. To pick up items press E or press the right mouse button. Press C to bring up your inventory, for more information check the Inventory section. Break up all the crates and barrels you see around the area and pick up whats inside them, then explore the island. I'll leave the rest to you, as Stranded II has a real discovery feeling the first time you create or find something, and by me telling you about them I take away the best part of the game from you, just remember to read your diary offen and save offen Inventory From left to right: Use Uses the selected item, the same effect as if you held the item in your hand and pressed E. Eat Eats the selected item, some items will cause damage such as rocks, but who the fuck eats rocks anyway? Hold Wields the selected item, pressing E with an item wielded will use it, such as cooking meat, pressing the left mouse button will attack with it. Combine Attempts to combine all the selected items, if it is a success it will show a list of possible items to create. Drop Depending on the number below the cross, it drops a certain amount of the selected object. Random Islands Using the random island option from the main menu, you can create an island using some options, the main thing is size and how hard it is. On a small island you'll still have quite a bit of moving area and see resources and animals more closely packed together. On a medium island you'll have more than enough room and see animals at what seems like a good distance apart. On a large island you'll never see half of it, most resources and animals are spread out, I've never seen a good reason to use this setting. Easy has no animals which would cause you harm, you spawn with lots of suplys, this is basically a sand box. Medium will see lion spawning stones around the island and a few random sharks which do not respawn, more tightly packed depending on size. Hard you will see lots of piranha and sharks around the island and raptor nests on land. Map Editor The map editor allows you to create your own island or archipelago, while the land shaper is a pain in the ass, I've seen a few nicely done maps out there. I'll expand this section once I go back and use the map editor a bit more. Modding Stranded II can be modded to an extent, while some huge things can not be done, there is a good mod that adds alot to the game but it is currently only in German. There's not alot I can really say here so explore the files your self. Bugs I'll update this as more come up. 1: All adventure mode diary entrys refusing to display, any discovery entrys on random islands do not show up either. Spoilers Most of the fun in Stranded II is discovery of how to create things and how things work, so keep spoilers within :siren: tags with obvious warnings to what is within them. It looks like Runescape. :v:
It looks like Runescape. :v:
You look like Runescape.
It looks like Runescape. :v:
This is nothing like runescape.
It looks like Runescape. :v:
It's fun as hell though, I love Survival mode or whatever and having a little corner of an island fenced off and I just snipe off animals with a bow I killed a monkey across the island before, I shot an arrow, missed, and when I was there later I found a monkey with an arrow in its inventory :v:
This is nothing like runescape.
No, it's Sparta. (User was banned for this post (Reason: Forced meme shit.) [event] 57941 [/event])
This game is amazing, and is nothing like Runescape.
You're a little late to the party. http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?t=467603&highlight=stranded+II
There is already a thread to this somewhere. Anyways, the game is pretty fun for a little while, but can get boring. Also, it goes INSANELY slow for how low end the graphics look. I can play Half Life 2 on high at a huge resolution, but this game goes slow on high. It went slow on both my old and new graphics cards. Kinda fun though.
You're a little late to the party. http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?t=467603&highlight=stranded+II
Old thread, no content opening post.
How do I make fire, I just can't figure out.
The game is really cool, and fun for the fact it is free. I got attacked by lions. I made a hammer :) Couldn't figure out what I needed since branches and stones didn't work. And how do I get "Fire" to make a fire.
I love how using certain items like the spear make you more efficient in using it. Made lions a hell of a lot easier to deal with.
I never liked how the animals looked. They look too cartoonish.
It looks like Runescape. :v:
you should be dragged out onto the street and shot (User was banned for this post (Reason: Flaming.) [event] 57942 [/event])
A tip for people that haven't played it before, (who hasn't?) the only weapon you should ever make is the bow. It's weak as crap, and probably the only balanced weapon. If you make the Arbalest or Golden Bow, nothing can get within 15 feet of you before it's dead. Arbalest is strong, fires quickly, and you can make 20 shots with 1 piece of iron.
I have a fan-page on my website dedicated to this game I also mod it, it's very mod friendly. I added items, and new features. Expect that fun project to be released in awhile.
This game is fun, so far I have a tent, campfire, stone storage, a fence and I'm working on a wood storage. :D Can't wait till the kingdom starts.
it gets boring afer you build everything that you can and grow a weed plantation
I suck at the custom maps.
i remember this was having a good little building my camp next to a water hole that was until i looked on the other side of my camp and realized there was fucking LIONS standing there i quickly found the nearest car and got inside
Lol'd at the title. Used to play for a while, then stopped. Think it would have been more fun with some more mods. Often in the game I'd be minding my own business when a freaking lion or raptor jumps out at me from nowhere. Pretty scary.
I don't understand what is needed for the tent.
I can't figure out how to sleep. I'm pressing Z under a shelter, nothing.
I played this, beat the story, got bored and quit. I remember the butterflies... Catch enough of them and you can carry tons of stuff. :v:
Press X, then click the sleep button in the corner of the menu.
I can't figure out how to sleep. I'm pressing Z under a shelter, nothing.
The game is German, so Z and Y are swapped. It may be a good idea to note that sleep is triggered by Y instead of Z. I find that quite convenient as I often hit Z instead of C. Also there's a hammock in the newest version that does nothing. I'm going to try and make it so that it triggers sleep when used and doesn't make you as hungry or thirsty when you sleep (and also cures you of poisons). I'm also trying to make a beacon object that you can plant and it just puts a marker on the map, along with ways to create a map and some other stuff like that. :siren:Spoiler: On some random islands you can find a Native, Native Chief, Pirate, or Professor. Talk to them! You can trade stuff with them - native is bread for tools and stuff, Native Chief gives potions for something (I think foods), the Pirate sells various things for bags of gold you can get by digging, and the Professor can make the rocket launcher and its rockets if you bring him the materials.:siren:
When I start, it just makes me look at the sky. I can move around and stuff, but my view is just aimed up. Moving the mouse only spins around my view, which is up.
There's an unfinished multiplayer, you can get the menu, but it doesn't quite work.
There's an unfinished multiplayer, you can get the menu, but it doesn't quite work.
'doesn't quite work' as in 'has no netcode'. I wish DC would just put the netcode in and let the community do the actual game half of multiplayer.
