• Unfair ban from VAC

I got banned unfairly because I was playing on my own lan counter strike using sv_cheats 1 and god mode with only bots! And everyone that I talked to about this said that shouldnt count as a ban. So does any one think that this is a false positive (or whatever it is)ban and its unfair?
ok you got banned it cant be undone cry more
You cannot get banned for that. Buy your games again.
You cannot get banned for that. BuY your games again.
fixed
Bring this shit all the way up to the SUPREME COURT!
There is no way you can be banned for that. VAC bans you when it detects something affecting the .exe . Sv_Cheats is built into the game :geno:
You can't get banned for using sv_cheats. Face the fact you used hacks in a VAC server. Now have fun...MOWING SOME LAWNS BITCH
vac can do false positives, no anti cheat is perfect. he could've had a program that unintentionally caused a ban, or even had a virus that got him vac'd.
It checks after faults or changes in the memory, not changing stuff in the console. Not saying you're wrong though.
indeed, sv_cheats was not the culprit
Also, read up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valve_Anti-Cheat [editline]01:22AM[/editline] From what I know, it might have been a skin you downloaded, and a "cheat" followed with it. That would probably make sense.
maybe you didn't have sv_lan at 0
We cant do anything about it, you'll have to get a new steam account and buy your games again.
or stick to non-secure servers, probably filled with cheaters
VAC doesnt make mistakes and if you were really VAC banned you deserved it. sv_cheats does not get you VAC banned.
erm, haxxer, that would be wrong, VAC can't detect content changes like skins, or models, so unless there was a cheat included in the skin pack you're looking the wrong direction for this "cheat"
I got banned unfairly because I was using hacks on my own dedicated server with bots and VAC enabled, And everyone that I talked to about this said that shouldnt count as a ban. VAC cannot do false positives as it only bans for KNOWN cheats aka programs manually added into the database. Reformat your computer, make a new steam account, re buy games. Do it during the sale, too.
Cheats may be hidden inside otherwise legitimate mod or skin downloads that are created to maliciously get innocent people banned. Since the source of a cheat installed on a computer cannot be proven, bans due to this are never rescinded
never using skins without background checks ever again.

?
How can you tell if you "almost" get VAC banned?
Well, what happened was a combination of really fucking weird and really fucking stupid. I got VAC-ed, cleared my cache, and then got un-VAC-ed the next day for no reason whatsoever. I am fairly positive I didn't do anything wrong in the first place, so y'know, something effed up. [editline]10:27PM[/editline] And by "got un-VAC-ed", I mean I joined a versus server and it worked.

Got kicked out of a server, tried to rejoin, got the "VAC bans detected" message, freaked out, cleared cache, then rejoined and everything worked out fine. :D
I think they should make unbans possible.
I am now afraid to do anything custom with HL2 again

[editline]10:22AM[/editline] And the OP didn't notice and installed away.
The single-player Half-Life modification Paranoia, which made changes to the engine's renderer that propagated to multi-player games. This still triggers a ban and no bans caused by it have been reversed.
Aww man the mod looks pretty cool too. ):
My brother got banned for downloading a skin pack and he didn't realise that it had a wallhack in it. So when he went on the server he thought his skins were mucked up as he had glass walls
