MAG (Massive Action Game) - Games

This game is so over-hyped right now. Somebody told me about it and at first I thought oh that might be cool, and then I thought about it. What a horrible experience that will be. I looked at videos for it, and you can tell just from watching that it is a boring game. It is too plain. OH COOL, 256 PLAYERS ON ONE SERVER FOR PS3 CUZ PS3 NETWORK IS SO GOOD AT DOING GAMES. Don't get me wrong I like the ps3, and it has some great exclusives, but this game is just another attempt to draw people to getting a ps3. I can promise you that there is going to be problems with their servers, especially because ps3 network doesn't charge monthly therefore will not have the funds to make something like this and be successful right away. Sure Sony has a lot of money but you get my point. Also, all I can imagine from a server with that many people in it is you spawning, taking a few steps, and getting sniped at by at least 30 different people, at least. That's a problem that is had in a normal 32 person game anyways. On top of that, ps3 gamers are the worst kind of people, even worse than xbox 360 12 year old gamers. All the money that was put into this game should be taken back and put into something amazing like a new Metal Gear Solid, Little Big Planet 2, or possibly Uncharted 3. Ps3 gamers I warn you not to buy this game for you will most likely be disappointed, I played the beta to give it a chance and proved myself right. What is everyone else's take on this game?

You can't promise something will go wrong with their servers, you don't know for sure something will, since that's why they have a beta. And it's not necessarily Sony's servers that will be hosting the multiplayer.

All posters with the troll remarks are clearly asspained ps3 owners who are aggresive against anyone who criticizes one of their very few exclusives, which they paid alot of money to play.OP has a poi nt, the game bets everything on the 256 player premise ,but thats not enough to make the game good.

I have the beta and so far I'm loving it. OP, stop raging and play the game.

question, i saw at some of the youtube gameplay video's that each platoon had an own sector. do you actually encounter 128-256 players at a moment? because that would be awesome

This means that until the very last state of the fight (where all attackers begin to converge on the final sets of objectives) you are only seeing ~32 people around you at the same time. Still get that huge-war feel though, because there are also enemies, and call ins like like bombers coming in every few seconds.

I'm lvl 6 sniper, so I haven't seen any 256 player action yet, but as soon as I hit lvl 10, all hell will break loose.

MAG is really dull.

But a slight warning, last time I tried MAG, in the closed beta. The fps went down the shitter when I tried 256 player matches. It was ofcourse, much older than the current build so maybe performance is better now. I have yet to play a full match myself, as you may have noticed.

You have absolutely NO chance if you do anything outside of your squads orders in the massive battles because if you do you'll just end up outnumbered or sniped miles from any medics that you can talk to/give a damn.

I personally find Sabotage more fun, but domination is still good

It's impossible to successfully attack without headsets.

I downloaded 30% and then just shut of my ps3. It was taking to long

The beta is amazing. Haven't had any framerate issues in the 256 player battles. The 256 player battles are completely epic by the way. I'm level 24.

Its quiet, you are moving in to attack an objective, you start to hear a crackle of gunfire in the distance, it picks up and picks up until you hear a constant roar of gunfire and explosions.

The idea of that many people is cool but that's all they have to make it any different from any other shooter. It's bland and boring.
