I was wondering if any facepunchers play Dead Frontier? It's a cool zombie MMO, I simply like the way it works. And the huge ass map, even though I never really go that far.

Here is a video.

My name on there is Ithae.
It's not an MMO, it's barely multiplayer. The monsters don't sync even when people are in the same group, and there are too many jobs that are simple copies of each other.

That's right, Dead Frontier is going to be 3D!
We've now started development of a new Inner City Client using Unity3D, a full featured modern 3D graphics engine that supports browser deployment (ie you can play it in the web page just like Flash). The game will play roughly the same as it does now (mouse controlled aiming, WASD movement and a roughly overhead camera view) but with a few key differences:

The game will run much faster. Unlike Flash, Unity3D can take advantage of your PC's graphics hardware so everything should be a lot faster and much more smooth. Just as with the AS2 to AS3 conversion we'll be looking to handle 30+ zombies per screen. We're confident that 99% of the PCs currently playing Dead Frontier will be more than powerful enough to handle this.

Multiplayer will be in near perfect sync and much faster overall. You'll be able to fight bosses together.

The game will become more of an MMORPG. The game will become more of an MMORPG. We'll be doing away with the existing multiplayer lobby system. Instead you'll be able to randomly meet people in the game world just as you would in any other MMORPGs such World of Warcraft or Runescape.

The Outpost portion of the game will remain exactly the same. Trading, Inventory, Banking etc will all work the same.

All characters, items and equipment will be preserved! The new 3D version will be using the exact same database as the current version so nothing will be lost during the transition.

Your 3D in-game avatar will look just like your Outpost avatar.

Areas will be much larger and more open plan. Right now each 'screen' is only a single street, in the new version you will be able to travel 3-5 blocks before encountering a loading screen. Inside building you'll see the entire floor rather than just single room at a time. You'll be able to explore not just the building itself but also the areas around them such as parks, car parks, gardens etc.

There will be whole new set of monsters with a wide range of special attacks. This new cast ofcreatures will create a new need for strategic planning and teamwork in battles. There will be 4 bosses and 7 special creatures on top of about 30 different variations of zombie.
All this is planned to be released sometime Summer 2010. For more details please check the main announcement page.
I do!
Oh, well the 3D sounds better.
I'll try it again when the 3D version comes out, but I am never going back to the original game. Too many sync issues ruins the whole part of multiplayer.
I play it, but not that often, its fun, but i cannot wait for the 3D system, it sounds rather cool
By the tits of my ancestors, that looks horrendous! I thought Dead Frontier was supposed to be a groundbreaking zombie mmo (there was a trailer a few years ago with like realistic damage and shit yo)
Relize game still in Beta Stage
Played it, It gets to point fast where it is really just grinding
The company "Secronom"symbol is Biohazzard! WTF thats assuring.

Did you ever go out with friends and loot? Or if your gonna stick with grinding, what level were you and how far into the city did you actually ever go? It's tedious in level 7-14, but after that the whole game gets challenging and instance.... if you go deep into the city.

18.
Nothing intense about it.
I kind of liked it. Until I found out that they delete your account after two weeks of inactivity.

two weeks? I haven't played with mine for over 2 months and I just checked now and it's still there.
I was in the beta of last year though, so it might have changed.

It depends what level you are, the higher the level, the longer untill they delete your character.
I'm starting to get into it again, dammit, they really improved this game a lot!
I want to see Urban Dead in 3D.
I was with Dead Frontier since the second week, but then I forgot about it and missed all the cool shit like custom armor and gear. The old forums were awesome, then they got hacked.
Dead Frontier is more of a 3D+2D hybrid. 3D models were actually created and then drawn from the top in 2D.
A wave of nostalgia just hit me, followed by a wave of sorrow that I missed the cool stuff. Apperently my account was also deleted due to inactivity so I actually can't prove anything I just said besides recalling stuff from the old forum.
That music makes that video seem kinda creepy.

Yea but the game was a top down more isometric game, if they used 3d models for it then it would be shit because they could have make it 3d, but they did it top-down meaning they could have just drawn spirites and using models would be unoptomized and useless.

I used to be REALLY into Urban Dead, but after a while I simply lost interest in it.
Mrh? Barhah!

This isn't a zombie simulator, it's a mutant simulator.
I'd play it, but when i started to get bit more levels (12 lol), i just dont have the money to heal from critical (like $1200?)
Missions are overrated.
This game is overrated.
It is just a mutant run and gun from top down, there are thousands of games like it if you look at it right.
This game is terrible.
I went on the forums and posted my opinion on how their game designing skills suck shit, with a well-rounded and thought out argument, and got IP banned. The ban reason/excuse was that I called them out on their shit game design to make myself feel better. Anyway, to summarize it:
-Networking sucks. Zombies are clientside, but they try to make it seems serverside (watch your teammates fire at nothing :O)
-Extreme lag. There's virtually no optimization, and simply having a large number of players or enemies on the screen at one time drops your FPS to a crawl. (large being more than 4-6) (I run all my source games on "high", and have tried FF, Chrome, and IE)
-Shit tons of useless classes. There's literally like 5 of the same class, with different names and different amounts of money.
-The town GUI or whatever the fuck it is was confusing my first time playing. Probably because it looks like spilled brown paint.
-Games that "get better after level __" are not good games. They should be fun from the beginning.
What's so bad about the whole ordeal is that they actually have a ban reason for that, inferring that it's a common occurrence.
Finally, I don't have high hopes for the 3D version. The developers are arrogant as hell and it's probably going to turn out like shit.

You sir, are on my "respect because they are smart and make a really good point about stuff" list.

It was just common sense, really.
