Like roguelikes? I thought somebody had put two and two together, and lo and behold, Google delivers. Zomband is an interesting roguelike featuring zombies, weapons, barricades, and awesomeness. Along the way, you must manage your hunger, thirst, and fatigue, so looting buildings is extremely important. You can also apparently barricade buildings, but I can't seem to get this to work (see below). As far as user interfaces go, it's pretty terrible even by rougelike standards. Also, the controls are pretty bad and the viewport is oddly-shaped. And, later on, your character becomes extremely overpowered. But those are pretty much the only flaws. This game is tons of fun to play, especially when, after scrambling around the city for about an hour, you find that there's actually far much more to the game than you previously thought... Installation 1. Click here, and install this 2. Click "Zomband," and "Install" (just "Zomband," not the seven-hour-challenge or whatever it's called) 3. Wait patiently 4. Play the game! OR! 1. Click here, and download the ZIP file 2. Extract everything to some folder 3. Double-click on Zomband.exe 4. Play the game! Thanks, X D ! (smartness avoidance :ninja:) Character dumps When you beat the game, you get to see your character dump. Don't post the whole thing, as it has a log of every single action you ever did. However, posting the first 42 lines or so results in epicness, like so:
Name: Adam (@) HP: 95% Strength: 18 Dexerity: 17 Agility: 52 Stamina: 23 Hunger: 33% Thirst: 25% Tired: 27% Primary: Fire Hatchet Secondary: Human Hand Head: Motorcycle Helmet Torso: Kevlar Armor Legs: Motorcycle Leather Pants Inventory (93% Burden): a) 8 Box of Bandaids b) 3 Energy Drink c) 20 First Aid Box d) 5 Meal, Ready-to-Eat e) 7 Water Bottle f) 1 Wood Plank g) 1 Hammer h) 12 .22 Bullet i) 11 .45 Bullet j) 24 12 Gauge Shell k) 129 5.56 Bullet l) 143 Nail m) 1 12 Gauge Shotgun n) 1 Glock o) 1 M-16 Kills: 521 Distance East: 399 Your Turns: 15886 World Turns: 42541
Have fun!
I could check this out. Looks good for a try. Edit: Is there a tutorial or something? It's pretty hard to get.
How do you load a nailgun with nails? I had one and like 97 nails and wasn't able to shoot it.
How do you load a nailgun with nails? I had one and like 97 nails and wasn't able to shoot it.
No idea, I wondered the same thing. On my second game I've encountered a bunch of police stations (kevlar, pistols, and jelly-filled doughnuts) with Glocks and MP5s, and combined with a fire hatchet I'm doing pretty well so far. Also, does anyone else get just their agility stat rising up insanely high, whereas everything else stays about the same? Edit:
I could check this out. Looks good for a try. Edit: Is there a tutorial or something? It's pretty hard to get.
It's not that hard! Just use the arrow keys to move, or the numpad, which is better, because you can move diagonally. Pick things up with G. Wear clothing and weapons with W. Use items (eat, drink, etc.) with Q. Drop unwanted items with D. Barricade, if you can figure out how, with B. Throw things (grenades!) with V. Fire weapons from a distance with F. Close doors with C. Rest for one turn with Numpad-5. Rest for a prolonged period of time with R. I'm probably forgetting something, though... (Updating first post to include help.)
I haven't played this in ages. Mainly because I couldn't find any useful items or have been able to make barricades. But I guess it's worth another try. :)
If anyone remembers that book in Oblivion about a guy who drowns holding underwater breathing potions, this will be funny. I was running away from zombies and I died of dehydration, with fruit juice and seven bottles of water. Fuck you, stats.
Anyone find out how to make barricades yet?
Find me a multiplayer version and I'll suck yo dick. Also can't seem to equip or wear fucking anything.
Find me a multiplayer version and I'll suck yo dick. Also can't seem to equip or wear fucking anything.
Found one! <lie> But no uhh.... * points up there *
Urgh, I die very quickly at this, how do you stay alive with a FUCKING MASSIVE swarm following you the entire time, ripping every building you enter to pieces immediately?
Why does my hunger, thirst, and tired go up so goddamn fast? If real life was like this, I'd have to eat 5 boxes of jello to keep alive every 3 minutes.
I built barricade just fine, did you take nails and a nailgun as well?
Maan, I found a house with like 200 bullets, an m16, full military gear, and about 30 grenades. Then I died from two zombies sneaking up on me. ):<. Edit: Aahahaha what the fuck, I found a house with snow pants, a crossbow, and 32 arrows.
Tip: Arrows do not work with crossbows.
Tip: Arrows do not work with crossbows.
I found that out shortly after, when I got mauled by a mob, trying.
God, you can never have to many sandwiches. This is a great Rougelike!
I built barricade just fine, did you take nails and a nailgun as well?
Oh shit, you use a nailgun! Excellent, the game says you need to use a hammer, and that never worked for me. Will try now. Edit:
):
Do you have the latest Microsoft .NET 3.0 or whatever?

This one of the more enjoyable Rougelikes I have played in a long time. Better yet, there is in fact a story if you keep heading east.
This one of the more enjoyable Rougelikes I have played in a long time. Better yet, there is in fact a story if you keep heading east.
There's also a lot of optional content if you go east. Once you get to first thing from going east, you can keep going east, and beat the game, or you can go north and south and encounter stuff that I haven't even been to yet. Edit:
What? I was "):"ing at the fact that there's no way out where I spawned.
Oh, my mistake. And yet, there is. You can move diagonally.
HOW THE FUCK DO YOU EQUIP SHIT. Every time I go into the equipment menu or inventory menu, I press the button of the item and he doesn't fucking use it. Foods fine and all that, but right now it seems I'm carrying a fire axe, a power drill, some hardcore jackets and a fucking nail gun just for shits n giggles. FUCK.
Press w then press the letter of the item.
Press w then press the letter of the item.
Not working for me. I want to get this damn hardhat on.
It works for everyone else.
Hit W and then the letter for the item, and if a weapon A or B for the hand
And then press E to see that yes, you are in fact wearing it. Then, probably drop your previous article of clothing/weapon you were wearing/wielding. Also, this game needs weapon/armor damaging/breaking. Once you get a Fire hatchet, it's all over.
Yeah, until you exit the city and head north... I swear those zombies dodge every single time I swing the bloody thing they almost always evade. I held down the directional attack at it basically went a good 20-30 turns and they almost all evaded, and then they swarmed me and died. Still, It's fun.
