Some of you may know me (and may not) for releasing a stupid (and utterly retarded) mod named "fart cops:deathmatch".
Well, after being disappointed from current-day zombie survival games/mod, I had the urge to make some ultimate mod, that completes the flaws of existing games/mods.
Since I'm not a guy of posting crap-ton of text and head blabber, I'll head straight to what the title says. What are your visions and Ideas for the ultimate zombie survival game?
Think them well, because I will take most of the ideas and suggestions into my mod.
(this will be a half life 2 mod, and I will update any part of progress).
a good interface
[editline]5th January 2013[/editline]
nonlinear gameplay
free roam
if its possible
[editline]5th January 2013[/editline]
also random drops
im hitting the top of the impossible scale now pretty sure
Free roaming with random human encounters, third person, no hud. Fully voiced. Very few zombies but hard to kill so they are actually scary when seen, they react to sound.

Hunger/thirst system is necessary.
Survival
like ACTUAL survival
if i get shot then i want to have to take use medical supplies or improvise to fix the wound and not just be INSTANT healed like most of the games do i want it to take its time to heal
REAL zombie hordes where you really have to think if its worth going into a town for just a few supplies risking the chance to get swarmed in zombies in no time
also good gunplay i.e aiming trough corners, peaking, leaning etc
please don't
please
Don't worry, I'm building this on the grit engine.
also a clean and minimalistic UI
Something totally new, and refreshing. Not the same-old zombie survival looting game. I want a game where don't die and lose all the weapons you've worked all day and week for. Give us tons of weapon customization and hundreds of weapons choices. Streamlined UI, customizable (if possible.) And make it Single-Player/Mutliplayer as well.
Also, please, not the name "SourceZ" please, something original. There's been a thousand NameZ games. It's getting old.
No hulkspam.
(props if you get the ref)

I'm more of a banshee-spammer myself.
Make it intense and fast paced. Like old FPS games.
I know this sounds lame, but some RPG elements really helps a lot.

wtf xoomer wheres my nazi zombies source beta
Along with fast-paced TFC/Quake/Etc. styled gameplay you should make sure zombies are also fast and powerful, and in multiplayer on death you play as a zombie with even more powerful abilities.
how about making your own scary creatures instead of zombies?
I would love to play a survival horror game that isn't about surviving against just zombies
Survival concept of Killing Floor, but with the zombie style of Left 4 Dead.
Armies of zombies charging at you, that aren't just bullet sponges when you shoot them.
Zeds in Killing Floor don't react when shot. Infected in Left 4 Dead suffer knockback, and gives a satisfying feeling when you shoot them.
A store like in Killing Floor, but instead of buying just a new shotgun, you can buy a shotgun, and upgrade/customize it. Buy a minimum, if you want. Hell, customize the hordes based around the weapon of the player(s). Someone has a minimum? Spawn thick hordes with a large number of zombies, with a priority for the mini-gun wielding player. A player has a sniper rifle or another long range weapon? Spawn powerful, yet slow, zombies, with multiple weak points that each need to be taken out. Etc, etc.
Maybe, Boss Fights at every 20 number of zombies killed?(User Defined) and an ingame trade system. Free Roam where u search the town for stuff and then give it to friends. Barricading System would be nice.
I haven't played Dead Island so I don't know how they managed the exploration aspect but my dream zombie game has open world with few big cities, villages and everything between. As for enemies just slow zombies who start walk faster if they see prey. Nothing faster, only slower zombies without legs for example. Horde system: hundreds of zombies walking together acting like a wave you have to avoid or hide from. You could try fighting but they would swarm you quickly. Save stations. For example gas stations where you save your progress so if you die you don't lose everything.

Yes this x10 I miss that gamemode so much.
L4D like zombies, the gore system would be crazy to code on its own so just leave that out. So diseased, instead of dead. Concerning the zombies though, they should run. Weaponry should be quasi-realistic and fun to work with. A good minimalist HUD would be nice, or just no HUD at all.
But nmrih wasn't really fun to play once you died, so make it a little more forgiving, like L4D.
Oh and full body awareness pls
Dayz is pretty much my vision, I'm looking forward to the standalone version, from what I've read in their development blog it's going to be pretty cool.
Day and Night cycle with weather, with the infection getting worse at night and weather being disruptive to survival.
