Oh god Porings in 3D. They're still adorable
I hope it isnt hardcore Pay-To-Win
I'm guessing there'll be a wipe after Open Beta?
I dont know that tbh.
I don't like playing MMO's if there's gonna be a wipe, wasted time.
There was a wipe already,
Unfortunately, A CHARACTER RESET will also be performed before Open Beta starts on 3rd January 2013. We know that this will displease many, but it is important that we be fair to the majority of our players who were unable to join us yesterday.
does it feel more like the first game now? because i remember when it appeared back on ~2006, the classes and characters felt like it was another game.
I didnt play the CBT, but i had lotsa fun playing the first game
has no charm like RO and the only server available right now is SEA so expect lag.
but do you grind?
I'm gonna try this for old RO's sake, so many good times hunting MVP bosses against tons more guilds.
It's not bad. I'd say this game was good if it was called something else, but because this is Ragnarok Online we're talking about, one of those games that have a place in my heart (So much that for a good few years I was doing a comic for it) so I’m going to be pretty critical about it, since I have a few things about it that bug me. Hear me out. Sorry if it's a long read. First off, there has been romours floating about that a IP ban will be put in place, not as of yet though. People all over are saying they can still get in. It might look like Ragnarok, but it doesn’t quite feel like it. Mainly due to how Warcrafty it is. Sure, it's a step up from Gate to the World (What RO2 was going to be before they started from scratch again and made Legend of the Second) both in art style and gameplay but there is still loads of improvement needed. (Although part of RO1's charm was the Sprites) One of them being that they need to step away from World of Warcraft. I know it's a beta and it's all subject to change but it appears that they have forgotten some of its charm from RO1, the lack of the good old Novice Class being one of them. You start off with the job that you want from the very start, which... kinda bugs me. Heck, Gate to the World had novices too. The Merchant class has also disappeared, with their vending skills being transferred to everyone, and Blacksmith/Alchemist has been given to everyone in the form of professions. Classes seem a bit limited, less freedom than RO1 when it comes to stats and what skills you pick. The Skilltrees for all classes in this are basic. So far they just havent ventured out to the wilderness and tried something unusual. The Enchanter in Gate to the World looked pretty interesting since their staff contained a straight sword, i dont know how expansive their swordskills where but it looked like a good idea at the time. The Koreans have recently been testing the "Noel" race, so it appears they are going to bring back the races they planned for Gate to the World, the Elir and the Dimago. The Noel's look like a mix between the two, having demon features and smaller than your average human. The hosts of the English server (Playpark) have changed a few things from the Korean version. They hosts shitload of games for the South East Asia population. (We're talking 22 games, 26 if we include webgames). Surprisingly, I didn’t have many lag issues from the UK. Either that or I just didn’t notice it too much. I'm sure that Playpark lean more towards the Pay to Win ideal, so much so that they have apparently given regular monsters more health and/or defence than they should have otherwise, made it so you either cant gain experience when the party has a large level gap, unlike the Korean version (I think, I’m not too sure on that since i normally work Solo) and even changed the cool downs for some skills, the most noticeable is the resurrection spell that Acolytes have. It has three levels, doesn’t require Blue Gemstones like in RO1 and has a 300/240/180 second cool down normally. But in the Playpark server, it's now over half an hour to try and get people to buy Yagdrasill Leaf's for resurrection at the cost of 5 gold/zeny. (I wish i was kidding, but I’m not, level one Resurrection is 50 minutes) I'm going to wait and see how it is when it proper comes out of "Beta" before i really play it. But those are my first impressions i guess. What they are going to do with this i have no idea. But so far it just feels like a Warcraft clone. It just doesn’t quite feel like Ragnarok Online yet. At this moment of time though, I have Guild Wars 2 to play, and Phantasy Star Online 2 to wait for in the Spring. Why play this when I can play those instead? Heck, Finding a decent RO1 server sounds like a plan. There's been some discussion of "Project R1" that recently caught my eyes in 4chan. But any news of that recently has disappeared off the face of the planet, with some proof of its existence in places. That game claims to be the successor to RO, just like a few other games claiming that they are. I've heard that Project R1 got canned though. Then again, RO2 got canned once and then came back as Legend of the Second, so fuck knows what’s going to happen. [thumb]http://www.gamer.ru/system/attached_images/images/000/436/192/original/projectr1.jpg?1318351673[/thumb] Now that looks very old school Ragnarokish and I would like to play it. Or at least find out more things about it. For now, Ragnarok Online 2 is one of those "Wait and see" kind of games. Not going to give up on it, but i'm going to give it some distance and see how it turns out before such a time where i sink my teeth into it. It looks like Ragnarok Online is doing better when its not a MMO, You have Ragnarok Tactics (PSP) and Ragnarok Odyssey (PS VITA) which both look interesting, the DS game isnt too bad i guess, i might end up live streaming it soon and kick its arse like i've been meaning to do for a long time.
I cannot wait to PLAY THE BIGGEST BLOCKBUSTER MMORPG OF THE YEAR
I played as a magician, level 11 currently. The lag is bad even for SEA players. The game is pretty much quest and party oriented, you couldnt solo a dungeon even if you try. Dungeon MVP/boss got like 20k of HP, highest I've seen is the Moonlight Flower at 80k HP . Party is limited to 5 people only.
The lag was pretty noticeable when playing from Australia. Ehhhhh, I appreciate the effort but I played the game for awhile and I don't see why I should play this over other MMOs. Right click on an enemy, press some buttons and they die. Also I find it a bit humurous that you can make a male character look like a girl First one reminds me of Akane Tsunemori from the anime Psycho-Pass and the second resembles Android 18 from Dragon Ball Z.
I see that I am not the only one experiencing horrible "Can't connect to server" issues. it seems a ton of other people do. kind of a shame, I wanted to check this out, I used to play Ragnarok Online, would be nice to check this out as well.
they had to move the open beta test launch because their servers failed the first time it was a major pain to keep manually updating it and everyone who waited for launch got screwed over and if you're looking for something like the original ragnarok, this one is nothing like it
Been playing this for the last week. Its so much like World Of Warcraft that my brother, who has been a WoW nut for years has surpassed myself and my other brother as he is more familiar with the mechanics. The game as a whole isn't terrible. At least its WAYYY better than the soulless slice of shit that was Gate Of The World(the original version of RO2). If nothing else, I have a grasp on things for when IRO2 eventually opens.
Look's neat, but a little to kawaii for me. Is it any good?
