So I quit WoW recently, but having played since BC, I ponder back to what PvE was like then, and in Classic, and what it's turned into now. While I didn't participate in it much due to the time-consuming tilt of such an endeavor, the story-driven, epic PvE raids still have an allure that I just can't describe; I don't know what I'd gave to go back to my freshman year in high school so I could experience some WoW classic raids (boring as they might've been).
The focus on dungeoneering combined with a questing kick-start to it all was just awesome. It starts with a few quests around the world leading to Burning Steppes and the Plaguelands, and then requiring the player to jump feet-first into literally half of Classic's end-game dungeon and raid content to stop the cultist and dragonic schemes hatching in Blackrock Mountain, as those end-game zones and raids reek epicness, easily the darker side of classic WoW. Kara, SSC, and BT did this extremely well in BC. However, I feel like it's been lost in Wrath, as the progression floor kicks up higher and higher.
Finally, my question: Are there any free 2 play MMO's with raids like this? Story driven? Requiring more than 6 or even 10 people? Having unique mechanics that require group synergy? A progression of some sort, items and forward momentum with bosses and instances?
Hell, I'd take it out of a Korean MMO, I don't care, but most of the f2p end-game and dungeon content I see is disconnected leveling dungeons (crappy ones at best), or outdoor raid bosses, many times involving impossible mechanics or large-scale PvP to take down.
you wish.
Games like those don't come around often, and often, they shut down after a couple of months.
Nope. There aren't not even many paid games that would be that good. Sorry.

Guess what, there is one. It's called "World Of Warcraft".
I doubt you've heard of it.

Because when using logic, if you search for something similar to A, getting A as a response is mostly unwanted.
I have a habit of posting the post and then modifying it to make more sense in English. (I am not native English speaker)
Runes of Magic is pretty similar to WoW and has raids and is F2P.

I think Runes of Magic is a lot of things.
