I wanna play through HL again and HL:S is better than the original cause of some
minor things I prefer but there is a MAJOR issue. Last time I played it back in 2008 it, it still had this thing where it would not Auto Save, and I'd get like three levels in and get booted to the beginning. Shit sucks. So does anyone know if it still does this?
This is the reason I don;t play hl:s often, why is there no fucking auto-save
You can't take the time to save in the pause menu?
You're just trying to sound pompus and ignoring the convenience of autosave.
I just rape f6 after each corner...

and adding autosave would require the modifiying of all 70 maps to include auto-save points... so i somehow think they are too lazy to do it...

No, I'm really not. It's unfortunate that there isn't an autosave, and I rely on them from time to time in many games. However, because you are aware of the absence of an autosave feature, you're gonna have to live with the fact that you'll have to pause the game and save that way for now (and probably forever, as I don't see Valve updating a game such as HL:S).
Go to
"C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\username\half-life source\hl1\cfg"
Open the "autoexe"
Paste this.
sv_autosave 1
Your welcome.

What... It doesn't even work that way.
I forgot about this once.
I got up to about Surface Tension and died.

Fuck was I pissed off.
I've got quicksave bound to the thumb button on my mouse so every time I twitch (which is a lot) is saves.

does it not?? I thought for autosave it had to have designated nodes/triggers whatever for points to auto-save at... oh well, guess i'm just retarded as fuck...
Only map changes are done that way.

The Auto-Save works, it's just not enabled by default for some reason.
So everything needed for it to work is already in the game.
I remember getting very far and the dying. Oh god that was ragefull.
I like to press the Quicksave Button.
