• Blocking?

Okay some updates and new stuff were added and there's alot of varying information on how this actually works since apparently this keeps changing as the years go by When you block all communication with someone, I'm assuming: 1. You appear offline to them until you unblock them 2. You still show up as friends 3. If they send you a message, you get it when you unblock (offline messaging) 4. They can still check the community page and check to see if you are online or not (anyway to disable this message for "public" people?) I just have a co-worker who recently added me to Steam. I don't mind talking with him every now and then but seriously like every day he's wanting to chat about work or playing some kind of game when I just kinda have steam up and it gets pretty irritating. I'm hoping that blocking makes me just appear offline to only him until I unblock him.
I believe it does, had the same type of person before on steam and I just blocked them. It showed up as I'm offline cause me and my friend do it to each other all the time.
afaik when you block someone you don't appear as offline, you just don't receive his messages
Recently, I've had a friend blocked, only because I don't wish to chat and play games as much, but when I see them in person, he's told me that he could see I was online, and what games I was playing. I hadn't received his messages, so I am under the impression that blocking someone does not make you invisible as you'd assume it should. Unless a recent update within the last few days changed that, as far as I know when someone is blocked, they can send you messages, but you don't receive them.
afaik when you block someone you don't appear as offline, you just don't receive his messages
This only happens if you two are in a common group which has a "small" amount of members (i.e. when you open it on the groups tab, it doesn't say "too many members to display").

"Here's the blocking funactionality we built into Steam. Except if you happen to share a small group with the person you are blocking, we'll make it work completely different for no reason!" I'm not in any groups with this guy, so does that mean I can block him and appear offline when I don't feel like talking with him about work? :v:

However, if your profile is not private, he can check your profile and see you as online. Additionally, he can just join a small group you're in.
