SweetFX has been gaining popularity recently, figured it could use a thread of it's own. SweetFX, for those of you who do not know, is a color injector/shader suite similar to the popular FXAA injector. It allows the user to use various effects in games with great flexibility and freedom. Popular uses include SMAA injection (a very effective post anti-aliasing shader), sharpening, and color correction. The effects can be seen in more detail below.
Effects included: SMAA Anti-aliasing : Anti-aliases the image using the SMAA technique - see http://www.iryoku.com/smaa/ LumaSharpen : Sharpens the image, making details easier to see Bloom : Makes strong lights bleed their light into their surroundings HDR : Mimics an HDR tonemapped look Technicolor : Makes the image look like it was processed using a three-strip Technicolor process - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technicolor Cineon DPX : Makes the image look like it was converted from film to Cineon DPX. Can be used to create a "sunny" look. Lift Gamma Gain : Adjust brightness and color of shadows, midtones and highlights (avoids clipping) Tonemap : Adjust gamma, exposure, saturation, bleach and defog. (may cause clipping) Vibrance : Intelligently saturates (or desaturates if you use negative values) the pixels depending on their original saturation. Curves : Contrast adjustments using S-curves. Sepia : Sepia tones the image - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sepia_tone#Sepia_toning Vignette : Darkens the edges of the image to make it look more like it was shot with a camera lens. - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vignetting Dither : Applies dithering to simulate more colors than your monitor can display. This lessens banding artifacts - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dithering#Digital_photography_and_image_processing Splitscreen : Enables the before-and-after splitscreen comparison mode.
Because it works as an overlay of sorts applied after an image is rendered and outside of the game's processes, it is not known (as of this writing) to be a cause of bans in games such as Battlefield 3, Call of Duty, etc. Without further ado, here's a series of presets for Battlefield 3 I've worked on (all modified versions of KyleN's preset and an older preset of my own). As well as a look at the presets listed above: link Here's the thread on Guru3D, with a download and more information. Now, post presets, discuss, etc. I can't wait to see what other people have done with this.
The picture already looks 20 times better than the grey coloring they have over top. Thank you good sir, I'll redownload BF3 and try it out :)
Used it on Planetside 2 with someone's preset and it looks great. Anyone have presets for other games?
Would this work for "I am alive". I know it's meant to be dusty, but did the event destroy all colour in the world as well?
Would this work for "I am alive". I know it's meant to be dusty, but did the event destroy all colour in the world as well?
As long as it is a DirectX 9-11 game, it should.
how much does this affect performance?
Would this work for "I am alive". I know it's meant to be dusty, but did the event destroy all colour in the world as well?
It's not gonna do much on that, most of the actual textures in that game are actually gray like that.

[editline]25th December 2012[/editline]
how much does this affect performance?
Usually only around 5-10fps (although with the settings most people use, such as those in the Battlefield presets up there, you'll rarely lose more than 5). [editline]25th December 2012[/editline]
It's not gonna do much on that, most of the actual textures in that game are actually gray like that.
It might, you'd just have to turn up the saturation and vibrance a ton (assuming the textures have at least some color). It may not look accurate, and it may cause some artifacting, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Yeah, got it to work in I Am Alive. It's an alright game, (got it on sale) and the atmosphere is tense, but the climbing sections are a bore. At least there is some color in the game now! Yeah, it is still very grey, but above the dust..., I'll post some screenshots. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/nax8R.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/HFsuM.jpg[/thumb] The grain is in game. the vignette sucks and i removed it. the games graphics are bad by default. ijust wanted some colour
Good lord.
Could probably look pretty damn good with enough tweaking :v:
Here is a better example, with the horrible vignette removed and some other tweaks. Original on top, improved (IMO) on bottom. Original washed out boring game [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/RylLH.jpg[/thumb] More vibrant. Why would fire and light be dimmer in an area with no dust... [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/3ORIs.jpg[/thumb] And yes, I know it's not a AAA game, so the graphics are still pretty average. This program makes it more bearable though :) thanks
SonofBrim;38972282']As long as it is a DirectX 9-11 game, it should.
You can actually use the enb series DX8 converter to make SweetFx work with DirectX 8 games
Will using this with Planetside 2 get you banned still?
Will using this with Planetside 2 get you banned still?
Nope, using it personally with almost any game that's compatible with it, played Planetside 2 with it for a week now without any consequences. It's more or less a filter on top of the program rather than directly modifying anything inside the game.
Can someone post this being used on a game that doesn't look like arse? I want to see if it's actually pretty or not

So this works somewhat similarly to ENBSeries? Would it be safe to use in things like VAC-secure games?
Here's some random shots with it Planetside 2: Far Cry 3:
Fixed.
impressive graphics mod [editline]26th December 2012[/editline]
Here's some random shots with it
woah shit that looks gorgeous actually Is that playable? How hard is the FPS impact?
So this works somewhat similarly to ENBSeries? Would it be safe to use in things like VAC-secure games?
Personal testing on an alt account with TF2 for 2 months now with it, no VAC bans so far. Now I'm still not super 100% sure on it but at the very least my alt is safe. I'll give it a good 6-7 months for myself till I try it out on my main account and more games with VAC, but I think the nature of the program itself doesn't constitute as a hack so far. [editline]27th December 2012[/editline]
impressive graphics mod [editline]26th December 2012[/editline] woah shit that looks gorgeous actually Is that playable? How hard is the FPS impact?
FPS impact is very very very very very minimal, like talking 0.1-2FPS impact, at most it's just gonna drain you maybe 3-5 and even then the drain only happens for a short while till it goes back to your normal frame rate average.
Heard that you can still get banned for using this in BF3, even if it is just a filter.
Heard that you can still get banned for using this in BF3, even if it is just a filter.
Dice has released statements saying that they didn't care, and then one that said they would ban if you used it, but I have been using an FXAA injector in BF3 since day one and I have never been banned.
Heard that you can still get banned for using this in BF3, even if it is just a filter.
You're probably thinking of the color tweaker program from Realmware which edits BF3's actual internal files and can be used for malicious stuff like changing gun values like rate of fire, damage etc. since the values are stupidly enough clientside. SweetFX/SMAA/FXAA injectors at most would only get you kicked on some servers but is rare to occur.
Here's some random shots with it
What resolution is this downsampled from?
What resolution is this downsampled from?
2880x1620 Also I think I should had mentioned they aren't my personal screenshots but it was this guy's. Been using some of his presets and tweaking it a bit myself, one of my favorites.
Here's some random shots with it sexy planetside 2 pictures
Thanks for my new wallpaper, looks amazing <3
So what's the work-around for FC3, which keeps launching into U-Play for me :\
